While we're on the topic, has anyone ever used HPA in a Kobalt CO<sub>2</sub> Regulator? Could it be possible? I'm considering it for the T-shirt gun I'm making.

Paintball hpa tanks have a regulator "built in" that reduces the 3000 or 4500 psi down to co2 pressures.

What you are planning should work... however....if you had a regulator failure (it CAN and DOES happen) take a moment to consider what would happen if your Kobalt regulator...designed to handle co2 pressures...were suddenly exposed to ...shall we say..."significantly more than" it's intended operating pressure.

Still sound like a good idea???

I heard somewhere that paintball tank pressures are around 1800PSI unregged. Still a large hazard to the regulator.

The pressure available from co2 is very temperature dependant. I've seen the gauge on my bulk tank (full) vary from 400psi (winter) up to just over 1000psi (summer).

4500psi would indeed be a "large hazard to the regulator"...and you as well.

Most tanks I've seen are 3000-4500 psi, those with unadjustable regs will give 800 or so psi while others like the Ninja tank I have can be adjusted by shimming the reg, mine can give 450, 600 and 850 psi (nominal, I never actually measured the output pressure).

HPA tanks have a regulator built in that will take the 3000 to 4500 psi air in the bottle down to approx. 850psi which is normal operating pressure for most paintball guns on the market. This 850 psi is taken from normal expanded co2 pressures (also vapor pressure at 20C). The only way that more pressure than the regulator can handle could get to it would be if the regulator on my HPA were to malfunction. But if this were to happen there is a burst disk on the tank that would go first. I'm also looking at the fact that HPA is a consistent source of air regardless of air temp (why they are so popular in paintball) compared to co2 that varies. Also i'm interested in the idea that the reason for the regulator failures lies in liquid co2 getting into the reg causing the malfunctions. There is no system on this regulator to prevent liquid co2 from getting to it especially since it has issues standing upright. Don't know... i'm not really that worried about failure on this one. Seems pretty safe in perspective.

Here's my setup... It'll work for paintball co2/hpa tanks or bulk co2 tanks(with the adapter)... The reg was 79 and the remote hookup kit was 49, the co2 to 1/8" adapter was given to me when I leased my big tanks...
