Multi-shot designs?

I'm planning an airsoft "spread launcher", and want a good multi-shot design. It needs to be pretty cheap, simple to build, and portable. My first cannon has to be pumped for every shot which really smells when the enemy is only 20 feet away and your sidearm is out of ammo...

Wow. How does it work? (I have no BBMG knowlage sorry) This would be great at airsoft games! Does the coke bottle hold the compressed air?

can someone link jor2daje's excellent high speed BBMG footage in the wiki?
Pretty much, usually around 90 psi - but with a dedicated air tank you can go higher and it will last longer.Does the coke bottle hold the compressed air?
I didn't have access to my workshop at the time, what was a spudder to do?lol ghetto indeed!!

I get how it works now. Does the bottle really supply that much air? Or are you using a compressor?
EDIT: I didn't see your new post before I posted this. Thanks for the info!
Another edit: How long would a 2 in by 3 ft chamber at 80 PSI power a small airsoft BBMG? I'd rather not carry around a compressor in the field.

Maybe 5 seconds, you could even do something as simple as 2 ball valves 3 inches apart with that air tank you mentioned and breech load paper shells full or bbs, for the breech just cut a rectangle in the barrel and use a pipe repair coupling, this wont be the most powerful launcher but should give you the spread you want and the multiple shots per tank you wanted. Heres plans for a two ball valve breach loaded nerf gun

You just described my first pneumatic cannon . It works pretty well, but I've decided to make a BBMG now after finding how simple they are. What would be the best kind of tank to use to be able to fire at least 30 seconds, while still being portable? I've seen a few portable compressors, but they'd be too expensive and noisy.clemsonguy1125 wrote:Maybe 5 seconds, you could even do something as simple as 2 ball valves 3 inches apart with that air tank you mentioned and breech load paper shells full or bbs, for the breech just cut a rectangle in the barrel and use a pipe repair coupling, this wont be the most powerful launcher but should give you the spread you want and the multiple shots per tank you wanted. HPA, the setup will run you about 100 to 150 bucks, or co2 which will run you around 100 bucks, if you do this make sure you regulate it, right now im looking into propane but have not done testing yet, noname powered one of his bbmgs by propane and a few other have filled pneumatics with it, Ive got a topic about a bbmg rig, Ill see if I can find
BTW did you post your first gun

I haven't posted it yet, I might today if I have time. I don't have the money for HPA or CO2, my budget right now is about $50. I might just make a sniper rifle, it would be more effective in many situations anyway. Could I have a larger tank connected by a ball valve to a smaller tank, and the smaller tank is connected by a blowgun valve to the barrel? I would open the ball valve, monitor the pressure using a gauge, and when it got to a certain pressure close the ball valve and fire.clemsonguy1125 wrote:HPA, the setup will run you about 100 to 150 bucks, or co2 which will run you around 100 bucks, if you do this make sure you regulate it, right now im looking into propane but have not done testing yet, noname powered one of his bbmgs by propane and a few other have filled pneumatics with it, Ive got a topic about a bbmg rig, Ill see if I can find

For propane yes, people do it on advanced combustions all the time, it expands slow enough to monitor it but air you wont be able to, that will work ok for a sniper but the best thing to to would be to make a piston valve out of galvinised steel and mount a shock pump to it, this will give you much higher power than a pvc tank. BBMGs use such a high amount of air its hard to make them portable withour regulating HPA or CO2 Heres my attempt at a portable BBMG

I think something like this http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/my-plinker-t16854.html could be good, for me I got about 15 high power shots (probably more if you are airsoft safe) and it could be filled easily with a bike pump.

I made one like yours and with a 3 foot 1 1/2 inch chamber I got 30 airsoft shots at 60 psi. Only 20 were decently powerful though. Once I added a gravity fed magazine it became to weak to puncture a coke can. Make sure you spring load the magazine.
That is all.

You could make something like the XRV because it only takes like 5 seconds to reload with a good magasine setup.
