Here's one of the valves. Looks pretty simple inside.

What's the schrader valve on the side for?

I can't tell where the schrader is supposed to go, does it go in the center of the valve lid?

In the third picture, it's the peg looking thing coming out of the bottom right side.

Oh ok, well then wouldn't that be the fill valve :?:

That's pretty cool, I think you can use that as your fill valve or remove it and put a quick-connect there or something.
Does the big hole in the middle have any threads? If not, you can just epoxy a fitting in it. This is where you would attach your pilot valve.

The huge hole has 5/8" standard threads, not NPT.

When you say pilot valve, what exactly do you mean? Is that the valve to actuate this valve?

Yes, teh pilot valve would be the valve you open to trigger this valve, such as a 1/4" ball valve or QEV, or any type of valve you want.

Did you consider typing Toro P220 in Google?

Yes, I went there before I bought them. "Downstream pressure verification" still does not make any sense to me. I've never dealt with irrigation or plumbing, just engines and equipment.

EDIT: I just went out to our irrigation system. That valve is for pressure testing, not fill. So never mind.

And for pilot valves:
Are there advantages/disadvantages to any of these? I've seen larger pneumatics use sprinkler valves or blow guns almost interchangeably. Is one better?

Well on such a large valve a blowgun probably wont work well. A 1/2" ball valve would be fine but if you prefer something a little more ergonomic and easier to trigger you could use a 3/4" sprinkler valve modded with a blowgun.

If you're going to hook up two of these 3" valves, I would go with something like a 3/4" sprinkler valve modded with a blowgun or even a 3/4" Quick Exhaust Valve (QEV).

I would go for a 1 inch sprinkler for triggering two of these bad boys with a modded blowgun trigger.

Alrighty, so I'll use a 3/4" or 1" sprinkler valve modded the same way as these with a blow gun actuating it, and splice the output line to each 3" valve. Is that the right idea? How large should my lines be for the 3" valves (coming from the sprinkler valve)? Is high volume needed?

Sounds about right. Maybe you could go with some small diameter copper or maybe threaded fittings but you may need a union for that. The lowest volume possible will be the best, since that will give the pilot sprinkler valve less air to let out to pilot the two big sprinklers. Also I would modify the blowgun for extra flow to actuate the pilot sprinkler better.

While I was waiting for the valve parts to be machined, I was looking on craigslist and eBay for air comressors and tanks. I found one about 15 miles away from me in great condition, but it has a 20 gallon tank, not a smaller one like you guys said to get. It is the most cost effective option as of now, but if I'm going to kill this cannons performance I don't want it. Here's the link:

Also, does anyone know a source for 3" pipe nipples? Grainger has them, but they're a little pricey.
