I think either your camera or computer is adjusting the recorded volume, I've had this happen to me before and am almost certain that's the cause. I don't know that you can do anything about it, sadly.
Yeah, annoying........

This thing was really, REALLY LOUD! It did not hurt my ears. But, I could only imagine what this much pressure would sound like coming from a 2 inch cannon.

One other thing that is funny, the pressure of the cannon firing moved a bunch of things in the room (it was fired in a storage room in my house). A exercise trampoline that was leaning up against the wall wavered quite a bit as the cannon fired next to it. A few things at the rear of the room blew around too.

I still find it cool that my Chrony actually blew back a few inches when it fired even though the muzzle was 5 feet away.

I took my 2 inch back to the shop to show the guy that gave me the tank. I told him I could probably move his air impact wrench from 3 feet away. He said it was too heavy, but I could try. With no barrel, we blew it 6 feet across the floor from 3 feet away. It was loud. I think he was impressed.

Automatic Volume control on many camcorders do limit the recording of the loud bursts. About the only fix is to use a separate audio recorder with full manual level control and then replace the camcorder audio in post production.

For a full manual recording I use a mixer and a A/D converter with Audacity. Most of the recording will be at low level so the peak is not clipped.

Some cheap microphones for computers will clip loud sounds as the pre-amp can not handle the high levels.

Cool.

So, I just aired the 1-1/4 inch cannon to 230psi and dry fired it to see how it would sound with just air alone. Wow, talk about LOUD! Also, the recoil was tremendous. When I fired the test slug at 200psi, I had the cannon braced against an upright freezer, so I did not feel the recoil. However, I felt the recoil firing only air. My Goodness! Wow, I cannot wait to try my big 2 inch cannon. Now, I see what you guys mean when you say a 2 inch is hard to handle above 100psi.

Try a 3 inch at 100 PSI sometimes. I got a bruise tossing a Gatorade.
