1.5" chamber sealing sprinkler valve

I've got two 1.5" sprinkler valves that I would like to mod, obviously, these are not cheap valves, so I need an expert opinion before I start drilling. Basically it's a chamber sealer with two chamber ports, but the complicated part is the guide rod. It seems to be adjustable to control flow control. I need to get rid of the flow control, and drill out a 1/4" port. Does anyone know what todo with this type of valve? Pictures will come soon if needed
EDIT: pictures added, as promised

I specifically said chamber sealing, read the first and only post before you reply; forum rules.

Don't hit me. The one with the guide rod is listed in that thread. See page 12.

I have never seen a chamber sealing SV. All of the "off the shelf" type of sprinkler valves are barrel sealing. Pictures would certainly help in this situation.

@Tech- I think ox wanted to hit locked.. not you... for being a bit of a punk :D :D

Sprinkler valves come in both barrel sealing and chamber sealing types.

To tell them apart, look at the lid. Barrel sealers have a pilot valve on the side on the downstream side of the lid.

Chamber sealers often referred to jar top valves have the pilot in the center of the lid. They have a rod in the center that goes through the center of the diaphragm.

Thanks for the ever so helpful reply Oxbreath, your input is always appreciated

The pictures are now up and you can see that it has some extra bits that a standard chamber-sealer doesn't so if y'all could quit it with the condescending and useless posts flaming, and actually try to make an effort to contribute, that'd be nice. I've modifyed sprinkler valves before, I'm just super cautious because this isn't a cheap valve.

Can you get a few more photos of the valve? You mention two chamber ports. I presume there is a barrel (outlet) port in addition to the two chamber ports. Where is the 3rd port?

In normal flow, does the chamber (inlets) feed into the center of the diaphragm? (by definition a chamber sealer) or does the hole in the center output to the barrel (barrel sealer)?

Where was the electric solenoid and where was the small adjustment rod?

I'm guessing the solenoid screwed on the center of the lid and the rod adjustment screws on the side of the lid near the bleed port.

If I am reading the photo correctly, the chamber feeds into the center hole. The piston has a bleed hole in the center plastic piston thing on the diaphragm that pressurizes the top of the diaphragm to hold the valve closed. The solenoid opens a port from the top of the diaphragm to a port to the needle valve (the rod) which ports to the bottom of the diaphragm or barrel side. This needle limits the flow so the valve can partially open and then stop opening as the inlet port that closes it balances against the leakage provided by the needle.

If this is how the valve is built, The solenoid is replaced by the trigger valve (ball or blowgun) and the needle no longer functions as the new trigger simply vents outside the valve instead of through the pressure regulation needle valve. You do not have to discard the flow control. Adding the trigger bypasses it's function.

If I read the photo wrong, correct me and I'll re-evaluate the mod.

It was my, (constructive), intention to try to alleviate some of the tension.

You have my apologies for the obviously unwanted and unsuccessful attempt.

By the way, could you give us a make and model on that sprinkler valve ?

I think the valve is close to this one;

Thanks for the help tech, the solenoid is off to the side, and inthe center there is an adjustment knob, more pictures coming soon

I know Gun Freak was working on one, He had a few issues but I think he got it resolved, you might want to try PMing him. BTW where did you you get those, they look awesome.

I had problems getting one to seal while being filled from the chamber side. But, I scrapped the old guide rod because I thought I didn't need it. Keep the spring in unless filling from the pilot, and just go straight in from the top with the drill. It should be just like modding any other sprinkler, but as for the flow control thingamjiggy I dunno.

here's the assembled flow control 'thingamajiggy'

and here's the top of the valve; the stick in the center had a knob attached that I removed

@clemsonguy, I got two of them for free PM me about it if you want to buy one, we may be able to work something out

:EDIT:
almost forgot, I'm filling pilot side through a QEV
