female brass tee

on any female brass tee (im workign with 1/2 fittings)
would it be okay if you fully tap it though?
(the two sides that you can look through directly)

i have done it to a 1/4 brass tee it worked out fine, it was for a more compacted hammer valve and i didn't do any high pressure testing max was 250psi,

did you buy a 1/4 tap or just used another fitting ? did the threads match up or where the slightly out?

i used a tap i doubt a fitting would cut it :lol:

i see well i bought a tap online already , ive been able to do it somewhat before with a steel fitting but blunts rather quickly

In my days of working in hardware, I've learned that there are two types of brass tees (female threaded): One is very much like iron pipe while the other seems like it would belong in Boxhead. Which of the two are you referring to?

I don't know if you should try it with the first version. The walls seem like they get thinner and it may or may not be a safety issue for you. The second seems like it would work though, but I'm still not sure.

i guess i would try it over both but the top one is more commonly available , the outter lip pieces i think are for show cos you can see its still threaded a fair way inside on all three sides but it could somewhat damage structural properties but i guess ill give it a go and see how it turns out

If you have one like the fitting on the top, you'll notice that the threads extend inwards from the walls... which is really to say that you'd be tapping air if you tried to extend the threads.
