No, but with a burstdisk it goes of with a bang. :D
I actually did try to pilot it with the schrader, and without the valve core in place and it almost worked fine.

The barrel is 43mm, so its perfect for golfballs, maybe i should bring it to the driving range for test shooting? :D

With a floating o-ring it would have worked with the schrader :) but if you're using burst disks it clearly isn't necessary.

Ack! missed this the first time around rainbowdroolraptor.jpg

Yes larda, do not waste this merely on wimpy airsoft bbs. High pressure tests must also be done.

this is very cool, I remember jack had a design a lot like this that he wanted to make but never had the facilities.

I've got a new job that has a machine shop and I was wondering how you get those flush threads non-NPT style threads needed to squeeze the burst disk, all the taps and dies I've ever seen are tapered so to get complete threads you'd need to pass all threaded sections past the tapered sections. did that make sense?

I am cutting the threads with the lathe, so then i can get a good thread almost all the way.
And if you lock at the plug you can see that the first few millimeter is turned to a slightly smaller diameter.
To seal against the burstdisk i have counterbore at the bottom with a rubber/metal washer.

I have since discovered hybrids though ;)

One interesting thing with this cartridges is that i am right now not using any rubber sealing between the barrel and the piston, its just POM-C Acetal plastic against metal.
And still the cartridge seems to hold the pressure, but i haven't tested it for a longer period of time, just a few hours at most.

I am working on similar project. Are you doing the machining yourself?
