Hey yeah bud I've thought of that ... But there's a problem I need a Tig welder for that unless you change the gas that the mig has from argon and co2 to pure argon ... That's all I know

No, there's new rods around for normal SMAW welders, they've got a certain flux. I don't use $50 splatterboxes, but I've heard they work pretty well.

Being in welding school I would suggest mig with a spool gun and 100% argon or tig weld with some 4043(I think) rods. Aluminum stick rods cost a ton and aren't easy to use, especially if ur not good with stick welding

Ah I think it's a couple of ml ... It's a aluminum fire extinguisher and I need to weld a fitting on it for my air chamber ... I'm gonna pop rivet the frame instead of welding it with aluminum

alu welding rod are a real bitch to weld with and i wouldn't trust the strength of them, you also need a pretty power full welder or one with arc control.

Yeah mate we'll I'm an alright welder but I'm not great I'm not going to talk my self up and stuff it up ... I think I might have to find another approach to my air tank ....

Here's an idea, use the SMAW sticks, but flood the area with Ar while you weld.

It be cheaper to just find someone to weld it for u. And it would be much stronger if you don't have the proper skills

I can weld alright I'm just not a prof .... And first I need a bottle of argon which will cost a lot .... I'm thinking now I should just get a big fire extinguisher which is steel ... Weld a fitting on it then just get some high pressure hose then hook my air gun up like that then the airgun it self is light ... Then put straps on the f e for my back ... Or would that be bad ...

Not suggesting you do it mate, just a brain fart. And at the least you'll need a MIG for decent airtight welds

Don't have to have a mig. Just have to know what your doing so you don't get pinholes. If its not more then 1/8 thick. I wouldn't attempt to use stick. Nothing like blowing holes through it because its the wrong process for the job. Don't get me wrong you can stick weld sheetmetal but you gotta be pritty damn good. Personally this sounds like a tight job with some 4043 rods so its nice and strong and crack resistance

Durafix/Alumaloy.

Don't count on it to be as strong as a weld, but it's close. Really glob it on thick if you're making a pressurized joint. It's stupidly easy to use and seals airtight with no effort at all.

Well Thank you guys for all the help and the input with my shitty design ... but hopefully i will have it up and running in no time :) ...
