Has anyone tried making a piston that pushes when pressurized and retracts when the pressure is relieved? I was thinking of integrating one into my gun, but i want to know the practicality of it before spending (more) money on making one.

Could you be a little more specific on what part of the cannon you mean, valve or loading system or what piston ?

reloading system, not as a valve. I mean one that is completely sealed that acts just as a hydrolic piston

Not sure how are you going to integrate it, but cant you use small pneumatic cylinder for that ? they make ones just like you described

You can find cheap ones from ebay, or local scrap metal yards that sell all kinds of stuff.. I have many cylinders that i bought at about 2-5euros each.

From what you have described I would think that you should look for single acting cylinders.. opens with pressure and returns with spring.

Check eBay of course, but these guys sell them pretty cheap.

Thank you so much! these websites are perfect! To be honest, I hate eBay. I've never had a good experience with them. This seems perfect. I'm sure I can find one to use.
