this is my new idea for a spud gun.
specifications i am looking for are:
1/2" copper barrel
airtank that holds enough air for 3-5 consecutive shots
a full barrel suppressor idea shown
low dead space(dont want everyone to hate on it)
cartrige fed
bolt action
i have most of the idea already in but i am still probably a noob so i would like your constructive critizism(nice way of saying your pland suck and how to improve) and i would like some constuction tips. here are the picsImage

You're a self-proclaimed noob asking for help on a project so complex that nothing like it has ever been done before.

A bolt action, breech loaded, self contained gun is not impossible to make. It is just very difficult and requires good machinery or extreme skills.

Now, streamlining all of those qualities into a gun that drops into an L96 stock is a completely different story.

I'm not all that familiar with your work, and I don't think anyone else is either. Maybe it's because you haven't posted much in the showcase? I think it might be a good idea to go with a project a little less ambitious.

And I mean that in the nicest way possible!!

I would ditch the idea with the QEV or whatever you would use and try to make a few small co-axial or quick dump valve cartridge and a bolt action loading system. I don't know if you could call it self contained, but its surely an Idea to look at.

i think that i fall in the catigory of noob(please tell me if i am cuz im not sure of noob guidelines) cuz i havent built anything or done to much useful stuff.also it shouldnt be to hard for me because its eighther soder or is screw on so it wouldnt be to hard. also wood working and metal work are easy for me it just doesnt seem to hard.

but please just put ways that it could be better like silecer fills. or the best construction methods, even how to make a better seal or ways to test for leaks so please post.

There are no guidelines for n00bs and being a n00b is not a bad thing, it's just a label

The project is ambitious as Gun Freak said, if you have the woodworking skills it is definitely possible. I did notice that you didn't mention the valve or loading mechanism (in terms of how the projectile is stripped from the cartridge, fed in to the barrel, and isolated from the cartridge).

I would forget about the silencer and your fancy projectile for the time being, you can work those out later. Though, decide now if you're using spherical projectiles or 'long-body' projectiles. If you know this already, do you know exactly the ammo you plan to use?

The loading mech. shouldn't be too hard, I'm picturing a Z-shaped magazine spring to push the projectiles up and a bolt-action mechanism that opens the breach, allows a single projectile to be loaded in to the barrel, and isolates the cartridge when closed. While this sounds simple in concept, no doubt you'll be spending hours with a file trying to find any obstructions that are preventing the projectiles from loading smoothly.

The valve could be difficult as well, depending on how you want it and what projectiles you use. If your projectiles are relatively heavy, look up BrianTheBrain's designs; if your projectiles are fairly light, I would check out wyz2225's designs. A hammer valve seems like an obvious choice, but it would depend on the pressure you want to use, the intended projectile, the desired performance, and the desired function.

I would personally be more inclined to go with a storage tank (still hidden in the stock if you can achieve this) with a small chamber used for individual shots. Just use a 3-way valve to fill the chamber from the storage tank and pilot the valve (a QEV would do).

I assumed that was the case but it would help if it were labelled or at least noted in your comments

I don't think there's anything wrong with an ambitious project, just remember, you'll probably have a few costly/time wasting failures just like any of us

As far as your design goes, if you can figure out the loading mech, it looks doable with proper patience and ingenuity. For inspiration on a cartridge system, have a look at PVC_arsenal's work with cartridge loading and ejection, he's had a lot of success, but it might take you a few prototypes to match his system

Do you have any schematics or diagrams of such mechanisms? I'm not familiar with pump action cartridge fed airsoft shotguns.

That's a single shot though, it doesn't have cartridge ejection...

im gonna say this now but if you see red it normaly means a spring and black is rubber/o-rings(epic fail on my part the silencer doesent cordinate with the gun) so that would push it back. but i am thinking that if i put in an oring in both the primary ejector will push the chartrige then after that i was thinking of puttung a pusher in so that it kicks the cartrige out, im kinda stuck on the back realease i was thinking of like a lever thing i guess i'll start drawing :D .though sadly i still cant get to lowes to get some materials.also i would have to wonder would it it be better to get a co2 tank and power it that way or would it better to do commpressed air.
