OK, I haven't posted here for a while (used to be quite active in the "non spudgun related" sub), but this new toy of mine seems to belong here.

I always wanted to do more with compressed air, but the German law is funny in that regard - you need a gunsmith license for that. But then, someone found that only cannons that force a projectile through a tubular barrel are covered by German law, so shooting an arrow that slips OVER the barrel is completely unregulated. A toy, legally. The BKA (Bundeskriminalamt), Germany's responsible agency for gun classification, clearly stated that in a recent assessment.

So I can go and have fun with pneumatic guns after all!

Yes, I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in "miniature". But if pumped up tp 200 psi, it IS a serious shooter (the 120 psi my cheapo compressor manages is kind of weak indeed). Therefore I posted it here.

This is totally the right place for it And the build is very ingenious, I specially like the valve system !

Really nice to see something a bit different, I like it, but those Coke bottles look abit scary at 200psi! I Read that the UK has similarly stupid laws, although have believe there is no reason you aren't allowed to make a air gun in Uk but it can't be over 12FPE, sorry not sure what that is in Joules and like Germany there is no limit to power of bows or crossbows.

I did not know Joerg Sprave posted here, I was more active here in the late 00's I'm not sure of it's status now but back then I' would say without a doubt this was the best resource/database for knowledge on vapor combustion and pneumatically powered guns.

some things I'd like to point out, the bang caps are an interesting fill mechanism, it ought to be similar in Germany but most tire shops have bins full of rubber schrader valves like this https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... hrader.jpg mechanics have always been friendly enough to give me a hand full of these if I ask. don't be afraid to ask
I'm not sure of the rupture pressure on the smaller bottles is but I've read various sources that say 2 liter bottles rupture at around 185 psi, so I'd say given the tendency of bottles to fatigue with use, 200psi is pretty dangerous operating pressure, but I'm sure it's not an everyday practice with you Joerg
