Hi guys update on my pneumatic nerf gun, so far it has been working fine but recently there was a leak at one of the joints (where there shouldn't be one), however I looked at the pvc cement and it said "rated for non-pressure. Any ideas what to do?

Looks like you're gonna have to make a new chamber with proper cement.
Until then you can try temporary solution such as filling the leak with epoxy, but they won't really work in the long term—if they work at all.

I leave mine at least 24hrs as well just to be sure, that might be overkill but I haven't had any leaks so far at 140PSI.

I have used this

Few questions and comments;

The pipe is black...I've never seen black pvc in Canada....but I have seen plenty of black ABS pipe. Looks like ABS cement, but you're calling it pvc cement....the two are not necessarily interchangeable.

Without making assumptions as to what pressures you're running at for a nerf launcher...ABS pipe is rarely pressure rated as it's mostly used for drains...thus the DWV marking and general lack of a printed pressure rating.

Pressure rated pvc will have a pressure rating printed on the pipe as well as being marked NSF-PW. Fittings will have NSF-PW as well...usually molded in rather than printed on.

Best not to use PVC pipe/fittings in the cold...they become fragile...if dropped/banged/damaged while cold and pressurized, fragmentation under pressure is likely and could prove harmful. :|

Did you use the proper primer AND cement, then give a twist while assembling the fitting? This is the best method.

Damn, your right, I thought it was just painted black, now I zoom on the picture I can see the DWV stamp :shock:

On the other side it says neither pvc, cpvc, or abs, but ipex which I never noticed, but anyway I am making a new chamber later and I will be using the proper primer and cement and the proper piping. Thanks for the advice!
