on BC's video of how to make a piston which im going to replicate but make it slightly bigger, he uses a piece of rubber to seel the barrel, i was wondering instead of rubber could you use the stuff most mouse pads are made out of,kinda rubbery foam type stuff?
and what part does he sand down its hard to hear?
and how long does the piece of 1"pipe(45mm in my case) need to be?and how far inside the tee does it need to go?

or could you cut a rubber ball slightly bigger then the barrel and use that as the piston seeling part with like a piece of 2"pipe behind it as the piston?

*looking at mousepad*

The rubber itslef is porus, but it appears the face of it is "solid". Although this face is not smooth and is "rigid" to prevent slipage on a desk. Air loss along these I suppose could be prevented via higher spring compression on the piston. Id personally say no, to the ball idear' but hey its your money and time.

Im not sure what your talking about on the sanding thing, along I remeber that dremel winding up and sanding something... Either way im not downloading that mammoth on my dial up, no way!

you have dial up!! anywho can you just drill the plug in instead of gluing and drilling it,as i thought i would try a few ideas for my piston and don't want to screw it up

DEMON used a half of a bouncy ball on a piston once, but he glued an o-ring onto the end of the barrel to make sure it would seal.

Im not sure if I am right but isnt mousepads made on neophrene (not sure about spell) Like the stuff wetsuits are made of. But you would need a dense form of it. My old man deals with clothing so ive heard him saying something about it a fare while ago.

some mousepads do,and some wetsuits also have it but not all of them, all of my family members are into sailing(apart from me im a rebel  ) and we have loads of wetsuits made outta loads of different shit.im using some of a mouse pad to help as a bumper with a few springs

hey, yeah i used the mousepad and a spring as the bumper and this rubber matress stuff like neoprene for the seal and it seals perfect.
