My friend wants a rocket launcher type pneumatic that will fire about 200 BB's, we plan on using a 1.5" Barrel and 3" Chamber, coaxial with a barrel about 2-3 feet long. We need to know what PSI is safe to shoot at people over 100 feet away.

You can go rather high, since the BB isn't heavy. Normal BB)guns shoot at a muzzlespeed of 300 to 600 fps. My guess, at least 100 psi. IF THE ENEMY is at 100 feet. If closer, I should say 80 psi. However, much depends on the volume of the barrel and the chamber (C:B ratio), the dead volume, the wadding used, etc.

300 to 600 fps sounds damned high.

The ones I normaly see don't beat 100 fps, and they sting like hell.

So somwhere between 50 and 100 PSI. Thanks, I did'nt think I'd need to keep it low.

I hate these topics that come up... even under the best conditions, shooting someone with a spudgun is very dangerous.

Are you planning direct fire or something like mortar fire? If you are talking about the latter, then it is a bit safer...

Airsoft BB's are fired at 300-400fps for full auto and up to 600fps for snipers.

The 600fps snipers are not meant to fire on players at close range.
Close range guns are usually less than 300fps e.g. shotguns.

The BB's used are 6-8mm plastic.

My friend said he was going to use 0.12 gram BB's and he said the other base would be 200 feet away. He said it did'nt matter which angle it would be fired at. It can either be mortar fired or a giant shotgun.

why dont you use 0.12g paintballs instead? theyre still 6mm and the same price.

I built a cannon for airsoft called the liberator, any way, It has a 1.5" chamber 14in long and a barrel 1.5" diameter 21" long and I pump it to 60 psi and load in tissue paper wadding some bbs andmore wadding, the range is awful. Pump higher,The spread however is amazing. Also I made a little "shell of sorts using pvc so I can quick load.Take barrel off put new shell in fire, remove barrel, remove shell, load new shell, and repet.

This site is about AEG's (automatic electric guns) They're BB-guns, but replica's at a scale of 1/1, full metal.

Watch this whats a quote from that site :
De vereisten voor dit lidmaatschap zijn:

- Minimale leeftijd 18 jaar
- Geldig identiteits bewijs*
- Eigen afsluitbare wapen koffer met vermelding van voor en
achternaam (bescheiden maten)
- Eigen A.E.G., maximaal 400 fps. upgrade of single shot
sniper rifle, maximaal 500 fps upgrade

- Eigen camouflagekledij en oogbescherming
That are max speeds they set, to alow you in their game. You can upgrade a BB-gun even to a much higher speed.

I usualy am in a game with 300 to 400 fps. BB's go realy fast and straight. You can hit a target at 50 yards with ease.

So 300 to 600 isnt to fast. You should wear goggles though
