My First Spud Gun
Yeah... My first spud gun... Not completed YET but I will keep you informed on the progress. We still need to put the valve in. Also, it needs a hot paint job. Any suggestions?
I was thinking of the P.A.C 2 when I made this but didn't use the same plans... We made it up off the top of our head. We used DMV because it was all we could find... It that bad?
I will test results later too for you guys.

I need help on how to mount a pressure gauge.

Have you used it yet? If not DON"T! That is ABS. That is THE worst pipe you can use on a Pneumatic.
DWV is bad for pneumatics because it isn't pressure rated. It is like a hard foam with tiny bubbles.

Does anyone know what abs is rated for?? Like just because its not pressure rated doesnt mean its not like rated up to like 20 psi right?? haha ouch
WAIT!!!
i might just save your ass. Look on this site for a coke bottle chamber gun 2 Coke bottles are prob. the same chamber size as your cannon there. That way you do not have to scrap the valve or the barrel(right)
EDIT NUMBER 3:
Heres a link

Wrap the whole thing in bailing wire; use a lot, a heck of a lot, like a one inch thick layer. And then wrap it in duck-tape; once again lots of duck tape. Then stuff it in a ply-wood box. Then, MABYE then, you’ll be safe.

Not responsible for accidental injury or death do to you being retarded and listening to me. If you sue me I will not show up at the court, I will hide out in the Smokeys and the law will never find me, and you’d better look behind you when you walk because someday you’ll wind up with a bullet in you back. So don’t sue me, OK? [Disclaimer for the disclaimer: if you’re so pacifistic that you couldn’t tell this was a joke, SCREW YOU IT’S A JOKE!])

Since you have to use it, pressure test it to "X"PSI and fire it remotely. Then just fill it to like 1/2 that at the science fair. And preferrably fire it remotely their and keep people away.
For future reference though, use Sch40 or higher PVC for pneumatics. Combustion can use either Sch40 or higher, or ABS (although it's not recommended.)
I don't like how that is going from like 3inch(barrel) to 1 inch(valve) to like 2inch(barrel). Maybe you could get some 1inch ABS and make a new barrel that would screw onto the chamber, and convert it to a combustion since it would be a shame to just throw all of that away.

I'm not allowed to use it AT the science fair, I have to use it and test it FOR the science fair.pyrogeek wrote:Since you have to use it, pressure test it to "X"PSI and fire it remotely. They don't want me blowing it off at the school.
Oh, and I tried it with a tomato. WORKED LIKE A CHARM.
I don't know what's so bad about it... We are staying at about 60 PSI for safety and it's doing great.

I think you guys are overreactingting a little. Sure, it's dangerous but he did a damn nice job. Stay below 40 psi, if possible lower. I took a gun made entirely of DWV to 100 psi several times.
I expect to see some more good cannons out of you.

Thanks man! It is entirely made of DWV...PVC Arsenal 17 wrote:I think you guys are overreactingting a little. Sure, it's dangerous but he did a damn nice job. Stay below 40 psi, if possible lower. I took a gun made entirely of DWV to 100 psi several times.

I'm really proud of it though. At first I was looking at the P.A.C 2 plans and then decided to sketch out this. Less parts, easier to make. I'll make sure to use better pipe next time though.
