i was wondering if it is possible to make a piston that works like this
Image

and another question if u heat pvc and bend it slightly would it still be able to hold pressure? around about how much psi

Definatley. Hold on and I'll draw a design.

Works like what? Goes in 3 different directions? I'm confussed on what you mean.

http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p32/ ... piston.jpg I think this would work but it would need some more work. Jrrdw what he is saying is you have the piston seal in a tee but have the piston is the 45 degree spot instead.

Edit.

Yes... its called a modified sprinkler valve :o .

You can easily make one with PVC fittings. I know noname did one. Problem is, they have poor flow and are not as good compared to regular piston valves.

Clide built the pl3x valve, which works on the same concept (check it out on spudfiles).

it ain't a modded sprinkler valve. it's just a T with a piston valve built inside it, ya cant buy one like that ya have to build it from scratch. im having trouble understanding the basic concept of the piston but ill work it out (i hope) lol

What do you mean 45% spot instead?

Well from a theoretical standpoint I can only think of two designs, to fit the desired configuration. That being both the mentioned 90 degree seat, being perpendicular to the venting port. Second, the idear with the sealing face, and piston face both being at 45 degrees to make up for the 90 degree different in travel path. Below I made a digram of the 45 degree idear.

NOTE- There may be trouble with rotation on the Y axis, as in the event of such, the piston will not seat properly. I can think of two solutions if the current spring set, and gravity don't solve the rotational problem. The obvious, increase spring set pressure. Other being to employ a key way, or some other means to mechanically limit the pistons rotation on the Y axis.

I've made an inline piston exactly like this. All you do is push the pipe in from the barrel and put a 90 degree elbow to use as the seat. You may have to cut a little off of the elbow. Just make sure you get the elbow on nice and square. This kind of piston works very well.

Looks like alot of Flow restriction

I don't know the link but look in the forum for valve cutaways. There's a diaphrahm valve cutaway that is exactly like the piston you want to do.

What he meant was that the internals would be very similar to a sprinkler valve, which is very true.

(That's assuming of course that he uses the 'standard' design for this type of valve.)

This valve is actually really easy to make. Best of luck to you making it. It makes a rather cheap compact valve too. I recomend this style to everyone. It's great.
