A GolfBall at 906FPS!!!

I was rather bored this weekend and I had some Spare time.YES!!Don't get it that often.

Well anyways I purchased a watermelon very cheaply and thought, why not shoot it with a golfball! So I got out Mr.Wilson.

Before I shot the water melon I decided to Chronograph the velocity of the golfball.A few minutes later and a tub full of rags to stop the high speed golfball from disappearing into the blue.Shooting into the rags I had a piece of cloth at the front to stop the other rags from falling into a pile on the ground and well the golfballs just punched neat holes through it,neat huh :) .

First shot, got 880fps which is more then enough power for me!I did manage to get a shot that went 906fps which is the fastest I have ever had a golfball go.Any one else had a golfball go that fast??

So naturally I set up the nice Water Melon and took aim!But with the aid of a video man and the whole thing is on camera but its Fucking Up!!So I will have to wait for one of my computer friendly friends to fix it for me as computers that Don't work every time all the time=Piece of shit...

Hopefuly video soon.

Well enough is enough, enjoy the pictures!

Tell me what you think about it and wait till you see the footage, you will without doubt go and buy a melon to shoot at!

Also having a servicable piston is very useful. If I didn't have one then there is no way in hell I would of been able to fix the neoprene sealing face,it was on its last legs as you can see form the pictures. So always build a piston valve that the piston can be serviced!

Thanks to Killa for Helping me getting this video up.Without him it wouldn't of been possible.Thanks.

Well there ya have it folks! This simple piston valved gun with a hot glue piston beat a mauler! If you want somthing done right, do it yourself, or get an aussie to do it. I am so full of aussie pride right now.
Go for gold john, GO FOR BLOODY GOLD!

Hint look at the red part.

Now 960fps      gag that is fast. What do you need that much speed for?? To be able to shoot a golf ball faster them a f-16 hornet with after burners going full bore??

Did you guys know that the Watermelon has the same consistency as the human head. Thats why assassins use them for pratice! Can't wait to see the video, (get it fixed man), but i geuss i'll have to wait. I want a Chrony, i just mite get one! Every time some one talks about them. So how many shots does it take to dismember a Watermelon? And at what distance? Hello good ol Mr. Wilson!

Off Topic: Dennis was my hero! I/we as kids used to menace one of our nabior's. We made little round mud balls and would chuck them over the barn roof and see if we could get one in his coffee as he was reading his Sunday morning paper at his back yard picnic table. We aced it a few times, and he deserved it! He was the bastard nabior who threw away toys that found their way to his yard.

It sounds extremely impressive. Not meaning to be a downer or anything, but it also seems to be unlikely. Your cannon is very close to the chronograph; is it not possible that the chronograph was recording the speed of the muzzle blast rather than the golf ball? Such an event occurred here (or so many people believe).

I'm not trying to put you down or anything; I am just saying they seem unlikely. Maybe you did achieve those velocities, and if so, that would be awesome :P .

What do you mean it beat a mauler? And also a mauler wouldnt need replacing/repearing after using it alot like RNA had to do.

Recruit-Well I never actually meant Mr.Wilson to shoot this fast,it was just a golfball cannon but when it was chronographed it showed its real intention...Going fast!

jrrd-Really,human head aye  Well I guess it would blow some ones head apart in one shot...Go for the Chony I never looked back its very nice to see how fast your guns fire. One shot to blow a watermelon to smithereens  .

rmich732-I'm not a member of Spudtech, doesn't seem like a very friendly place. So can you just PM me about what you are trying to say or make a post explaining it so other members that use a chrony don't get readings that are mis-leading.

MrCrowley-Well it all depends on how you treat your valve.Without doubt you would need to change the sealing face of the valve eventually. Is there any hard facts or evidence showing what happens to a mauler valve after being fired maybe a couple of thousand times over year or more?I would like to see it.But true the power comes from the design not the valve,But it does help A LOT.As I wouldn't get this speed from a sprinkler valve..

The thing with the chrony is that some guy on SGTC was so close to a chrony when shooting he got these unbelievealbe speeds from a cannon that doesnt look like it could achieve those speeds. We ended up agreeing on he was too close to the chrony and the muzzle blast effected the results.

I leave it up to Sean to comment about his pistons as I have no clue. But I would prefer to spend the extra money on a machine crafted, o-ring sealed, guranteed piston that needs minimal replacing(im guessing) over a very long time then a hot glue piston.

Dude, so what!?
I mean i'd rather spend another 3 bucks replacing my piston every year than buy some fancy little 100 dollar valve, Wouldnt you?

No, Because Seans would perform better. No doubt about it. And also the $80US includes the tee as well which can cost a bit.

Haha!? what!?
Pressure rated tee's are under $2.50 where I live. And for a barrel sealing tee valve without o rings and stuff is under $20. Which is better than seans.
