semi automatic paintall gun

I am designing a pneumatic paintball gun that will use a magazine for the paintball. The trigger and reload system will be controlled by a motor which is triggered by an on and off switch attached to the trigger. I am still in the process of designing a way for the shells which contain the paintballs to be ejected from the barrel. I have already made the cutom stock, bi-pod, magazine, and suppressor for the gun. I am still working on getting the 1/2 inch paintball and shell casings for my gun.

Don't use shells, its is unnecessary for paint balls due to their cylindrical nature.

Paint balls are not cylindrical, and if put in a clip alone they would pop.
To fire and eject the casings, try an open breech like on a tommy gun. Have the pressure push a spring loaded breech forward, shoot, then the slide would go back into position and the spring in the mag would push the cartridge out.

Or at clide's semi-auto paintball rifle.
You really don't need shell casings, it'll just make it cooler, extremely hard to build, and (in my opinion) not worth your time.

I am using shells because I want the gun to be as realistic as bossible and I can put more tension on them sicne the casing will keep the paintballs from popping. For the ejection, I am going to use a hammer that is realised when you pull the bolt back, and then the hammer whacks the casing out of the barrel. I got the idea for the gun from the M16 at RAP4.com. I am using my old m16 airsoft gun shell so it will look somewhat like a m16

I would suggest a magazine instead.

Yeah I know it’s a little late but...

COD_FILLETS, why would he want a magazine? A clip is much easer to reload. I believe you confused, do you mean a magazine, like the tube magazine like that on Winchester lever-guns, or clip like on the B.A.R.?

But, yes, go with an open bolt, all around simpler, plus it will give you a higher ROF.
So when will we get to see you semi-automatic paintball gun? I’ve seen lots of people ask about making an automatic gun, but I can’t recall them ever posting there gun…wonder why…

Actually, a BAR has a "box magazine" (from Wikipedia), just a 20 round one. Whichester repeating rifles have an in-gun magazine, as in it is built into the gun. Magazines are what the M16, M4, AK47, etc use. You are correct about the "tubular magazine", which pretty much nothing except shotguns use today.

A clip is something like what the M1 Garand uses and the German K98 rifle from WWII also uses a stripper clip, the metal that holds the bullets together is not used in the gun unlike in the Garand, where the metal piece stays in it until all 8 rounds are gone.

As it turns out, a magazine is generally easier to load, you take out the empty magazine and put full one in (not including internal magazines). The internal magazine usually require the user to individually load each round or a clip to load it.

I dont know what Im doing either. I am just typing random stuff here, maybe someone will read this and think "what the hell" .... But yeah, I know that feeling. Too bad the "delete post" option is gone after you post another message, lol.

Also, Id say any bolt type repeating (homemade) gun is pretty cool, it'll score you some "cool points".

Well, normally I know what the heck I’m talking about, it’s just lately I’ve had to many irons in the fire and when I get a chance to sit down and look at Spudfiles I’m to out of it to talk intelligently. (I.e. my confusion of slips and magazines…)

But yeah, a home-made bolt-gun would give it’s creator a lot of braggin’ rights. But I’m still waiting for a full automatic gun to show up on the forums… (I’m working on mine, but at this rate it’ll be awhile…)

Theres Automatic Guns all over the place. search up Marble Machine Guns......... (They kick ASS). one of them, made entirely out of steel pipe, actually uses a mechanism to fire one marble at a time. it uses a QEV and a saftey pop-valve to actuate it_
