Sprinkler Valve Question

There is probably a simple reason but I do not get why there are air nozzles or other types of nozzles connected to the sprinkler valve? I thought you need an electrical switch to operate them.

you connect the nipple(nozzle) into it, and run a blowgun out of it. this is actuating it using air(releasing air and equalising it) and then it will open. same thing the solenoid does.

This may not be true, i dont know everything about sprinkler valves

no it is true, the solenoid is just slower. all the extra stuff like a solenoid you will wana seal up.

What you are talking about is modded sprinkler valve. The solenoid is an air valve all it does is leak air in order to actuate the diaphragm. What a blow gun or other valve does is dump a huge chunk of air rather than an 1/8" hole. I have a valve in testing that is a 3" piston actuated by a modded 1" sprinkler valve actuated by an electric soleniod 3/4" :P. The idea is you want the valve to open ASAP, and the larger the air flow, the better
