Bassically I'm new to these forums (first post :  )

I have made a cannon out of 15mm pvc connected directly to a ball valve with a 15 to 22 converter which fits quite snugly on the inside of the 500ml drinks bottle. I can fit everything together perfectly air tight except for the schrader valve (which i cut from my dad's bike's inner tube 8). I have tried gluing it with super glue and pvc glue and it doesen't work.

I would really appriacate it if someone could share with me any tricks on how to fix it or where i can get specail easy fit valves.

In advance thankyou (sorry for spelling 14 year old dyslecsic)

drill a hole in the bottom of the bottle(12.5mm hole) and then push it in through there.

welcome to spudfiles

First you need to reduce the schrader to bare metal at the base (ie remove the rubber coating along the body), I find that an easy way of doing this is simple scraping off the rubber with a good blade then finish it off with rough sandpaper.

You should be left with something like the one illustrated in the pic attached.

Now all you need a 6mm hole in the base of the bottle you're using as a chamber and stick the schrader in with plenty of araldite, leaving it to set overnight. Be careful not to get any inside the bottom of the schrader as it may gum up the internal mechansim.

I would think so, it's a fairly common brand. If you don't find it any 5 minute epoxy will do really, this is just the brand i've got the best results from.

i dont get why everybody glues their valves in. you dont need to.

If you buy new ones, from a car tyre shop or somewhere similar, you drill a 12.5mm hole and it will go in. it will be hard to get in but it will not leak. at all.

Sam you're attatching it directly to the soda bottle right?

If so that may be why it leaks.

try putting your schrader in a tee with a pvc cap on the down end.

just drill a hole in the pvc cap and jam the schrader through. Then prime and cement it on.

aren't soda bottles and scraders made of plastic so couldn't you just melt em together with a lighter. Although this seems very inpractical.
