Well i just finished building a 2" chamber 3/4" coaxial piston gun, and il tell i now firmly belive that pistons are the best way to go. the gun exuasted fully WAY faster than my modified sprinkler, which makes a kutha-wump noise well the piston makes a wonderfull and LOUD bang. i was just about to take pictures to put it in the showcase when....
The front glue joint around the barrel started leaking, badly.
the only way i see to fix it would be to re-make the entire front end of then gun, something i would obviously rather not have to do.
Is the ANY way i can stop the leaking joint and save my new gun?
could i coat the glue joint in epoxy and hope it will seal?
PLEASE HELP

If it's only a small leak good epoxy should do the trick, make sure you roughen the surfaces a little first and give it enough time to set properly before re-testing

Sadly i wouldent call it small.... it leaks so much that with a 1/4 ball valve and quick disconnect i cant get it higher than 20 psi with fill valve wide open.

In that case use something to fill the gap, like a sliver of PVC cut to size.

If I were you, I would just cut off the joint and build a new one. That way, you will be ASSURED of its integrity, rather than having to question it.

there is no visible gap to seal, it WAS airtight and worked for about 40 firings before it started leaking... really dosent make sense. and rmich i would have to redo 3/4 of the gun to make a new glue joint.

Its a unusual pain hey! I had the same problem with my over under piston and the shaved bushing in the front of the Tee leaked. I just opened the back shot two suringe fulls of glue down there slopped it around then pressured it up and left it. No leak and extra strength from all the glue

can you post some pictures of teh cannon? it will be eisier to know what to do then.

Pyro i pretty much went with ur approach. leak had been over done because i failed to notice that the sealing face on my piston got blown off, allowing air to leak from barrel and making real leak appear bigger. i slathered some plastic epoxy on it and will see if it worked after the 24 hr curing period.

Dont forget to put pressure to it so the epoxy seeps into the leaky areas.

I was backwards of that, I thought the leak was coming from the barrel and it was no big deal. Unfortunately it wasn't

theres no way for me to put pressure, i cant get to the leak on the inside i can only get to it on the outside

don't use epoxy. that is the half ass way to do it. go get some JB Weld and that will solve you problems.

Now you tell me.... already put on epoxy. BTW what exactly is JB weld and where do you get it? ive heard it referred to many times but dont really know what it is.
