Paintball Rifle Questions

Hello, let me start off by saying that I have searched for these answers, but I must be using the wrong search terms.
I have a couple questions:
I followed this how-to guide to modify my sprinkler valve:
http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/modding ... -t305.html
I drilled the 1/2" hole, but I can thread the 1/4" NPT valve in by hand. Will the fitting stay in, or is this too loose? Do I need to drill a larger hole, and use a 3/8" to 1/4" Reducer to connect the fitting to the valve?
I was going to use a 18" pre-made hose from The Home Depot to connect the valve to my blowgun, but it is not flexible enough, and I going to return it and use normal air hose. Can I purchase a short length of 1/4" air hose in Home Depot, or is that only available online?
I forgot to test this before I threaded the barrel into the sprinkler valve, so I will have to ask you all. I used a 3/4" CPVC male adapter (pressure rated) to attach my 3/4" CPVC barrel to the sprinkler valve. Do I need some sort of stop at the bottom of the barrel to keep the paintball from rolling back too far, or will the adapter do this?
Thanks for any help.
