For any one that was on this http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/new-pis ... t8102.html page. there was allot of people that did not belive that my cannon actually fired, so this is my proof that you are wrong, don't bother wasting your time telling me not to use ABS in a pneumatic, i have heard enough of that already. So for any one who doubted me, here is is, this video was taken at about 100 pis, the target is 1/2 inch press board, ammunition is the inside of a golf ball, out come is a 1 1/2 inch hole in the wood, and a dent in the post.

Nice... but did GGDT really predict that it would fire at over 800 FPS?

I don't doubt that it will fire, but I doubt that it will fire well (compared to a more traditional piston valve).

I also doubt that the duct tape makes an effective seal. It sounds to me in the video that air is still flowing in as it is being fired. You might be able to get duct tape to seal decently for a few shots if you really jammed the piston in there, but I think it would have to be repaired every few shots if not every shot.

rmich...nope not unless he did the GGDT horribly wrong. I ran the numbers in there and the highest speed I could get with the gun was 440 fps... with a 6 gram projectile.

I didn't think so either... I was just reading the numbers put out at the top of his other thread.

umm.well first off, a golf ball is not 6 grams, and 2, the reason there is still air rushing out of the barrel is because the air compressor is still hooked up to the chamber. and last but not least, yes i did do GGDT wrong the first time, i did it right and got around 750 fps. By the way, duck tape works great as a seal and i have not replaced it yet over 30 shots.

Hardly anyone has ever used ABS in a pneumatic before. I guess it doesn't hurt to try new things.

Hardly "proof". It proves that his gun in those conditions isn't a death trap, but the lack of standards for DWV pipe makes it extremely unwise to use one example as proof of anything. Besides, whose to say that 1 psi more, 1 degree raise in temperature, or the small amount of fatigue caused by each shot doesn't push the gun over the edge on the next shot.

I am talking about the sound of air still filling before the gun is fired, not after.

I know well that a golf ball is not 6 grams, it is 45, but I was using the 6 grams example because that gave the highest speed I could obtain with the gun. 45 grams gives me 335 fps.

That little rant on ABS wasn't directed at you super, I know you know our stance on it and you never proclaimed it to be safe. I just can't stand people declaring that something is safe after one or two people do it without killing themselves.

and the sound of air still coming in the chamber before it is fired is because i fired it prematurely. i can get it to stop making any noise at all, but i was trying to keep the video short cause my computer takes forever to upload videos. i am not trying to say that it is OK to use ABS in a pneumatic, all i am saying is that is all i have, and that is what i am going to use.

I would prefer all my limbs and use pressure rated pipe,as ABS pipe isn't pressure rated for a reason(unless you get the special kind). As for 800fps,unlikely.

for one- i presure test my own pipe
two- can you not read- i said " i did it wrong, it is closer to 750fps"
