JAFSVQ - Just Another Few Sprinkler Valve Questions

Hi,
Did anybody try closing a sprinkler valve before the chamber was exhausted? I know it usually won´t make much sense to do so, but then again, my gun is not a usual design (the old Jet Gun in hybrids).
Will the diaphragm rupture or anything when closing with an 8 bar pressure differential still there?
My first and only valve is a jar-top type Rain Bird. The equalization thing through the diaphragm is very small (slow-close feature). Does anyone know whether it is ok to just remove it, leaving the hole it sat in? The idea is to have it close faster, and to fill the main chamber (slowly) through the eq hole, saving me from making a hole in the chamber.
Thanks for any feedback
Soren
