no, this is in the proper section.

anyway.

i like the "mega cannon" idea. i once built one with a 16 foot barrel, but thats as big as your ship, so you need something smaller.

here is a list-

-about 5 feet of 3'' sch40 or SCH80 pvc. (make sure it has a pressure ratting, do not use ABS pipe. ABS is black. PVC is white, sch80 is grey.)
-two 3'' pvc end caps

-two 90 degree elbows. 3'' of cource

-one 3'' tee

-one three to two inch bushing

-one 3'' coupler

-one mauler valve

- some 2.5'' pipe (you can also use 3'' pipe) for the barrel.

-a schrader vale (the type on a bike tire or a car tire)

- some clear pvc cement and some purple primer (use clear primer if you can, purple primer works, but can be very messy and look bad)

good luck and if you need help putting it together you can PM me.

MAKE SURE ALL THE PARTS ARE PRESSURE RATED! it MUST say nsf-pw on it along with what pressure it is rated at.

remember, the best cannon in the world is only as good as the weakest part.

This is what I needed. THANK YOU. Now I need to figure out what to do with these parts. Should I buy them first, or figure what to do with them? And thank you for the assistance. I am going to name the cannon HI. :) Should all the parts be sch40, sch80 or pvc?

yes, buy the parts first, then figure it out, it will make so much more sense, trust me.

as for naming it HI, you dont have to, but it would be the coolest cannon name ever, in my opinion.

We are conquering the seas. No, my friend bought a small yacht and he wants to do something with it. So he decided to make a pirate ship. He is adding on wood and a sail and everything. He has a little beach on he property also so we are gonna sail to his house. We are going to do target practice and make other boats and destroy things, legally, hopefully.

Merged:

YES!, will do. I will go ge tthe parts. Can we make this cannon breach loaded? If it wasnt, then I would be super hard to load it on the boat. Should all the parts be sch40, sch80 or pvc?

one more thing, the schrader valve will go into the mauler valve, not the cannon chamber.

again, when you get the parts you will figure it all out.

There are two types of mauler valves, 3 way button or 3 way ball thingy. Both with schrader valves. Which do you recommend?

Don't forget something to pilot the mauler valve with, a modded sprinkler valve or QEV should work right?

No offence taken - you were insulting yourself :D :

Andy,

He meant look under the showcase for ideas and then post 'em here lol. Also please don't double post just use the edit button instead.

Breech loading big cannons is easy if you have this set up:

Ok, Thanks for the advice. I don't really understand what it means to pilot the mauler valve with? What is a modded sprinkler valve or QEV? And what do I do with them once I get them? How can I set up that breech loader on the cannon? Well, actually i should probably get the parts I need for it first, then figure it out.

the way it works is there is a piston in the valve. the piston is held in place because there is pressure on both sides. when you acctuate it, the piston slides back and opens the valve.

in order to actuate it, you need a valve. thats what the ball valves are for.

as for which to buy. dont buy eather one. its an extra $40 that you dont need to spend, you just need to buy a 1'' ball valve at the hardware store. nothing fancy, just a plane old 1'' ball valve.

edit- you can also use a sprinkler valve as people have recommended in place of the ball valve. it will screw directly into the mauler valve. in order for the mauler to work, it needs another valve.

its kinda like how you need a little engine to start a big engine, same idea here.

Ok, once I find out what I need for the breech loader I will call my friend and we will go to the hardware store and buy what you said to. If we can't find the mauler valve we will order it online.

you cant buy a mauler valve at the store, it is hand made by sgort. you HAVE to order it online, there is no other place. it is made by a single person and no one else.

for breech loading you need a compression union and a female adaptor (all the same size as the barrel) using a compression union is the best way.

you can also just cut a hole in the barrel and slide a coupler over it, like what i did here, but this way ist as good for long barrels. only do this is you cant find a compression union.
