That gun is insane! I can't imagine the kind of power you'd get from that thing! Great cannon!

just got back from more test firing. all i can say is wow!!! my buddy has two air compressors wired together and the one with the air outlet was regulated to only 100 psi max. the other compressors regulator goes to 160. so.... we took the one offline and hooked the stinger up to the 160 psi. we were all surprised with the performance! first though i'm majorly bummed out because my girlfriends digital camera that i took with me to
take some damage shots had dead batterys. so sorry no damage pics yet.

first shots were golfballs. when we could see them go they would continue to gain elevation until out of sight.

next we just had to shoot some spuds. we wadded up shop towels then jammed in the spud. we set up a piece of 1/2 inch plywood at a distance of 30 feet. the spuds would go through the plywood and you could still see it going into the woods behind the target.
after shooting about 50 rounds the plywood was a pile of splinters. i took off the end of the valve to inspect the piston for any damage. i was pleased to see it look still as good as new. cant wait for 300 psi!

all machine work was done by myself on cnc lathes to exacting measures. there is no substitute for precision. i will post some pics of the internals later along with damage pics and video. hopefully tommorrow.

That sounds really awesome. What kind of recoil does the cannon give?
I love how good old spuds are being used in this beast, because I love their unexpected power.
You should try find a chrony so we can see its velocity.
Im waiting for 300 (spartan style :D )....

if the 300 and leonitis would have had air compressors, golf balls, and 300
prototype stingers they would have defeated the persians. leonitis would not have missed the persian king with a golf ball!!!

Sweet Jesus, that's one beast of a cannon.

That's going to make one hell of a mess at 300 psi - as well as a lot of noise. I hope you've got ear defenders handy.
Novacastrian: How about use whatever the heck you can get your hands on?
frankrede: Well then I guess it won't matter when you decide to drink bleach because your out of kool-aid.
...I'm sorry, but that made my year.

yeah, a lot of people buy mini mills and lathes and then attach heavy duty stepper motors to the axes, and then use g code or something to feed them the cam data....
