How many holes are too many?

I have an 18" x 3" Chamber and i have bored the following holes and screws into it over the recent days trying to get different things to work.

3 screw holes
1/4" hole
3/16" hole

I would like to screw 4 more screws to make a total of 3 sparking locations that would spark at the same time. (also does this make any practicle sence)

1st of all: Its called "drilling" not "boring". :)

Now to your question:
Drilling alot of holes isnt really bad as long as it are good holes!
That means:
-Not too large
-Not too close to eachother
-ALWAYS drilled trhough multiple layers of PVC (the fittings and sockets)
-Good seal and screw-tapping.

The downside of alot of holes is that the chance you fail one hole is larger and thus you might have crappy holes that may blow.

If your a guy that applies to a few things other then cannons.

You should be fine though, since the holes are small. When they are large is when you should worry since they start to affect the structural integrety of the pipe.

Most of my guns have 6 holes which I put #20 machine screws through. I drill these right through the chamber wall. I have never had any problems at all. They are all well spaced. As far as your 3 gaps go you'll probably need more than a piezo BBQ igniter for that. A piezo BBQ igniter is good for 2 gaps consistantly. More than that it will have trouble.

I am using a camera flash, coil ignighter.
I think this should do the trick.

Why don't you just make a spark strip so that you don't have to drill that many holes.

The holes aren't that bad but why take the chance?

I suppose if the holes were not already made into the chamber then perhaps i a spark strip would be benifical.

On my next gun I will of course have learned all the approperate lessons and have a much neater and "less holy" gun.

You could always add a lot more holes, then line the chamber with a clear soda bottle, for visual effects. :D

Hi,

Huh, do they then hand you the soda pop in a plastic bag? A jerry can? Hamster cage?

Funniest regulation I have ever heard about ;)
