Hey its me i just joined (after a year of using this site I clicked the join button  )

I've been makin tater guns for a few years and want some ideas on upgrading this super simple cannon i made a few days ago.

Sorry no pics. cameras being a @%$^

Materials

All pipe materials are pvc

Chamber:
4"x 4"x 2" wye with elbow and female screw on 1 end
4" male screw cap- my spray cap for back of wye
2" plug on elbow- standard grill igniter glued in
4"-2" 1 piece reducer- the inner kind with the fancy ribs
4 inches of 2" pipe- from reducer
2" female screw fitting- fits onto 2" pipe
2x 8" of small wire- stripped

Barrels:

all barrels have a 2" male screw fitting
5'x 2"
5'x1.5" with 2"-1.5" reducer
4'x1" with 2"-1" reducer

also-
hand strap that fits on barrels
working on a site or laser

Construction:

Chamber:

bought the junk
got wasted
got technical
4-2 reducer glued into wye
glued igniter with wire into hole drilled into 2" cap
glued that ^ into wye 2" elbow
glued female pipe fitting onto 4"x2" pipe
glued that ^ into reducer

put barrels together

~!TESTING!~[/]

fuels?
have tried:
starting fluid-
WARNING DO NOT USE THIS!
needs lots of oxygen and burns to long= super fire hazard

axe spray-
overexpensive but it was close by :)
worked great overall but expensive

super cheap ghetto hairspray that burns your lungs-
works awesome and cost $1.89 US for a huge can

scotch guard-
about as well as hairspray but cost 10$ a per tiny can

want to try:

propane:
ideas on upgrading to use a fancy propane side tank?

any other cheap aerosal with benifets like-
cost?
amount needed for a good boom?
any residue?
easy to find?

best shot ive gotten is over 120 yards with a piece of old iron 1.5"x3" over 110 yds with a lil bit of axe

anyways.
lemme know any suggestions if it can be easily "upgraded"
(even a good paint job)
thanks!

:edit:
pic works yayayy

The wiki and the search (top right) can work wonders. Pete Zaria has plans somewhere on this site for an advanced combustion, which is what you want, right?

Okay. Look at this sticky. In the thread, there is a file to download (it utilized Microsoft Excel). Look over the plans, then incorporate them into your design.

Here is what to look for:
propane metering system
chamber fan
stun gun ignition
spark strip

Be creative. It'll happen.

Just wondering. I'm not used to being called a "homey."

As long as you have access to the chamber's interior (which you do, according to your drawing), then upgrading with the items I mentioned above should be no problem.

But, if you want to keep this one as a "simple cannon" and start on another one, then go for it.

my dad and brother are putting a 5 horse briggs on an old 3 wheeled golf cart.. i think ill throw this one on top of it for my bros christmas present, and start on a high tech. i downloaded those diagrams and i think i could get it done soon, my uncle owns and old mill so im all set on tools and parts and i know where theres a crate of propane :o guess ill head to ebd soon so i can get started. that simple one is pretty sweet though being able to launch a chunk of iron 100 yards :P
