Wellllll... We are having fun now.
You know this has been interesting -

I have never understood & bashed reality TV, but you know I actually paused the Tivo to come upstairs and see what was new with nosebleed - fully expecting the handle to be a metaphor for the outcome. I must say you have my interest.

I am going to do my best not to be crabby like last night...
Bright side:
I asked for a better vid and you gave me one - A+
I wanted to see more of what was going on and -- You did that.

And I got to tell you I enjoyed it.

Very simply put. Each time the cap )or as someone aptly pointed out the threaded plug) flies out it is taking some of the threads with it - almost invariably guarantying that it will continue to happen.

I'll say it again "BUY A NEW CAP (PLUG)" before someone gets whacked.
DYI, made a good point - any wrench you have will do for now - I made the assumption that you were without such amenities. But at this point I don't believe the wrench is your problem

What I learned from the 1st video -
1) Thank goodness you have loose fitting ammo and ill-perfected mix.
2) Boy are you going to be surprised when this gun reaches its full potential - Because you aren't even close.

What I learned from the 2nd video -
You are escalating in a bad direction. You can't just keep blowing off the plug, dude! I promise it is way more fun to have all that energy out the barrel.

You might want to re-think that cardboard too, it looks like a brand new condo - I doubt the fam is going to dig the brick or gutter damage you are about to impart.

So to summarize - wrench or no wrench - you will inevitably need some new ABS parts.

Good luck

ok so thanks deadman once again for helping and glad you enojoyed the video =].

so i dont think my dad will buy me anymore parts since i wasted a total of 50 bucks and my dad is still pretty mad at first and i think he still is

but anyways... my parts are glued together how would take out the female thread if thats the part your talking about to replace

anyways i found this in my basement

btw will Teflon Tape as starman mentioned help

and i've looked at the threads on my cap and female thread, they seem pretty good condition and not chipped or damaged except for outside of cap with scratches from hitting the wall

one last question, are these caps actually meant for hand use to screw in and out, way easier to use wrench to screw it in and out although it is still pretty tight, i was actually able to screw the cap all the way in with the wrench took me 10 minutes with wrench just to get it back out

call me weak if you must lol

All rightee now.

"Deadman" here, I guess I had that coming.
Thank you for atleast telling me your (financial) limitations so I can stop harping on it.

I guess I gathered from your post that with the help of your colorful channel locks (nice pic BTW) you can now complete a shot without risk of loosing a hand?

Answer to question 1: cut off the threaded fitting at the end of your chamber from the pipe and replace it. New threads for all!

I am guessing 10 bucks for an ABS cleanout & plug. You will end up doing this too BTW, it's just a matter of time.

Question 2:I suspect they are meant to be hand tightened and then wrenched 1/2 turn to seal. DYI says all the way down - I've never gotten that to happen & I've not seen the "O-ring" - maybe it's an ABS thing.
It really doesn't matter - you are in a different realm with your thread damage (seen or otherwise).

Regarding your dad, you might try sharing the experience with him so he feels like he got something out of his investment, this really does appeal to all ages, and at the same time it might get you to stop shooting the side of the house.

Geeeeze...I've never seen such consternation and contemplation over an end-cap...

Like my now long-dead Grandmother used to say, "I don't speak just to hear my head roar son". Yes, it improves the threading by lowering friction and allowing at least 1-3 more threads buried on these big PVC pieces...Yes I know you have ABS. Provides a much better seal too. Use a wrench of some sort....pleeeease...

You know, it is possible you have a slightly out-of-tolerance thread on your cap or female fitting. Why don't you take your cannon to another abs supplier and try a different cap? Or your cap and try in another fitting?

hey guess what, im so stupid, sorry for wasting your time guys

omg the solution was so simple, screw the cap in all the way with the handy dandy wrench 0_0... like who cares if the cap is hard to screw off later

and i'm going to post some pictures of the destruction it caused

thank you all once again i appreciated it and now its time to own with this thing

After 2 threads and several pages of advice, you've built a device that can shoot through corrugated cardboard once in a while. Congratulations are in order.

Hummm. Something tells me your neighbor's sense of humor won't be nearly as acute as yours if he finds out...and especially if you did any damage to the car.

Might I suggest not doing that again in the same location.

I think it would be quite hilarious if your neighbour shot a projectile into the air and then have it land on your car too :?

Damaging other people's property is not hilarious, and if you think it is I don't think you should be building spudguns.

I'm not sure how big the projectile was or what it was, but that's not the point i'm trying to make.

Well I can't tell you how proud we all are.
Like a mother bird releasing her new hatchling for first flight.
We beak fed him worms and cultivated the inevitable destruction he was going to wreak on the neighbors.

I suspect in the future, advice should come with a 60 mg dose of Ritalin, so we can be sure it is ingested completely.

I got to tell you, I was just glad when I saw the vid that I didn't recognize anything.

Nosebleed, a word of advice - prolong your enjoyment of this device by exercising some discretion before your dad or the police take it away before you realize its full potential.

After which I am sure you will read this thread and appreciate all the nuances on a whole new level... or not.

Your welcome.

Well first of all.. it was an accident, did not try to shoot at someone's car and the bullet was not that big and was made of paper mushed together

my barrel is only 1.5 inches big and it can't really shoot much, not even a golf ball

and deadyeye =] would a police really take it away, and its not illegal right this type of gun

You d*** right they would. Not only that, but they would make you responsible for any damage. It's not illegal until you do something stupid with it, even if it is an accident.

My 1.5" potato barrel/potato will easily put clean holes in 5/8" plywood. On the contrary, 1.5" has the potential to be very destructive.

It's also not illegal to own a sledge hammer...but just see what happens to you if you smash someone's car windshield with it.

It's not the object that's criminal, it's the criminal that's criminal. Police very commonly confiscate items that are not illegal from people using them in an irresponsible way, especially the under-aged.

well im not gonna do anything stupid with the gun especially firing at people's car and houses

what is it able to break?
