So I am working on a project, obviously, and I have just really gotten into the world of electrical. Honest, I have always been interested in it but never really had proper instruction until now. My dilemma isn't choosing an ignition circuit, it is how to properly dump a capacitor in a flash circuit to my chamber. I have it set up to where it will charge up the capacitor but from then on I am kind of strewn about on how to go about things. I was considering a momentary switch on one of the leads but I really dont want to lose the charge in my finger. I was thinking a zener diode behind the switch and then I started thinking about just running it through a momentary then a relay. What is your input?

I would say an automotive relay with a momentary switch, and then you could also put a diode across the coil in the relay to prevent current going the wrong way when the field collapses.

Just the type of answer I was looking for. Thanks for untangling the wires for me!
