I have just recently built a simple design combustion golf ball cannon mostly of ABS material. While the combustion chamber consists of 4 inch ABS pipe, the barrel consists of a 1-1/2 inch CL200 PVC pipe which is similar SDR21 pipe. I sleeved the SDR21 with 2 inch ABS for additional safety. I needed to wrap the SDR21 with several layers of think construction paper to fill the gap. The golf ball fits this pipe perfectly leaving just a small gap. Luckily for me, the tapered end of the barrel and excess cement glue prevents the golf ball from entered the chamber. The issue that I am facing is that the barrel must always be in an incline when loading the chamber and aiming or the golf ball slides out. I have seen others using toilet paper or some sort of paper cradle which prevents the ball from sliding out but looking for other options or suggestions. I have attached a picture of the cannon as reference.

Thanks

In my cannon I just used a piece of double sided tape that holds the ball firmly, but I have a bolt action... viewtopic.php?f=27&t=27104

To install, you could blutack a piece of padded tape (non-sticky side) on a piece of 1x1 lumber, slide it down the barrel to the right spot, then roll the lumber over so the tape stick at just the right spot... rolling it out again might be a problem though if you overfuel...

I had found a link online where you could use a 1 1/4 inch thin wall PVC for a golf ball launcher. The combustion chamber was the same for a spud gun. The outside diameter is 1 1/2 inches and inside is 1 1/4 inches thin walled just the perfect size of a golf ball which I have plenty from working on a golf course. I'll use deodorant spray instead of hair spray or a little shot of propane gas, pop red button and stand clear it will make a dent in a tree 150 feet away...

Here’s my multiball cannon, golf ball with led in it. I have 2 2” and 2 1” irrigation valves modified to dump all the air out of a 26 gallon compressor. Check it out here
