I am planning to make a medium size spud gun and I was wondering if a eletric lighter would be too small for it what do you think?

if it is medium sized a BBQ igniter would probably work best and cheapest. they are about $13 usually. it will work better than a lantern sparker wich are more trouble than they are worth.

I agree, go with the peizo-electric you can mount them better, also they rarely fail if you get the right mix of fuel.

Ya i have a lantern sparker on my combustion. It was my first and i wanted to go with reliability because I heard sometimes cheap BBQ igniters fail and i figured $13 break or $2. If you ever do think about putting a lantern sparker in becareful how far in you put it becaue when the flint runs out you will have to replace it. Mine is kinda far in but i think i can change it when the time comes :) .

my old combustion uses a flint lantern lighter but its attached to the end cap(yes i know it weakens the cap but i didnt know that at the time) so it easy to change the flint. you should probably use a camera flash cheaper if you can find one somebodys throwing out and very reliable

You could also use the e- ones that are from grills, they run off a AAA battery and make a good size spark.
