diesel engine injectors

do you think you could use an injector from a diesel engine to inject as liquid fuel into the chamber and allow it to mix and evaporate enough to ignite properly??

I dont think it can coz a diesel enginine doesnt use sparks for exploding and injects fuel under very high pressure/temperature. The fuel burns instantly after injection because of the heat.

If you want to evaporate liquids, just spray :)

the point is that the injector should atomize the fuel efficiently and this would aid evaporation. If you put it just behind a chamber fan then the atomized fuel will be spread throughout the chamber!!!! perhaps you could even use high pressure and inject the fuel to burn instantly??

How would you get it to inject the right amount?

in a diesel engine the fuel pump pumps a certain amount of fuel through the injector. the injector is pretty much a centre punch like ting in a hole in another thing that has tiny holes on the end that atomize the fuel! there is a spring pressing on the punch like thing and when enough pressure is applied to the whole assembly the punchy thing is pushed back and the fuel passes through the holes in the end!! the pressure applied by the spring determines the amount of fuel injected. therefore if you can provide the necessary pressure you could use a very precise fuel metering system!

is there any reason why the first post appears to be neon green?

yes because i made it that way by using [ color = #00ff00 ] text [ /color ]
without the spaces

Good luck. Diesel engine fuel injectors run at 10,000 plus PSI.

then you could possible modify a diesel fuel pump with a gearbox and a handle so that you could use that to drive the thing!

Or you could use the fuel injector off a normal gasoline engine. That way you run at lower PSI.

but

but you lower the efficiency of the atomization!!! the diesel injector will be more efficient at atomizing the fuel and should work better!!!!

not necicerrily(sp?) they should give the same atomization depending on the pray pattern you get.

Good luck, that particular injector runs at over30,000 PSI!!!
You will almost never be able to generate that kind of pressure unless you have an injector pump that is attached to a rather high torque engine. This is much too much work for a finely atomized spray. Just use some mister heads found at your local hardware store.

P.S. At 30,000 PSI gasoline and other liquid fuels become very volotile and can become unstable. This is why when you put gas in a desiel they have a tendacy of pre ignighting and blowing cylenders VERY fast.

you could try using a spray nozzle from a high pressure cleaner or mister sprinkler ect.. you cold force it through with compressed air then ignite it quickly before it settles.
what fuel do you intend to use because some can attack PVC (petrol i think)

also on a unrelated note see this pic of a UFO i took

sorry about that pic the digital camera doesn't like close focus!!
