well here is the story. After conducting at least ten 3x in my hybrid at least seven times i was totally sure it was safe at 2x and it propbaly was.Anyhow i was walking to where i was going to test fire it and i dropped it but i didn't think sch 40 would crack only pumped at 2x but i still inspected it to be sure nothing visible so i fired it...

And boom!! this is all i could find of it so far its a miracle i didnt get hurt but i did se a large chunk fly off so possibly i fired it at something higher than 2x who knows.Ohh the shards are from the back of the gauge that hit my house.

you said that it was made out of sch40 right? Would that be PVC.
if so then that is most likely your problem because i don't think it could hold those kinds of pressures.

Sch 40 is a wall thickness, it doesn't mean it's pvc. It could be abs, steel(i highly doubt it), pvc, or some other type of pipe.

I think he knew that, we was asking 'would that be PVC?', as he may of known it could be steel, abs etc

Well theres an incentive to not skimp on hybrid materials

Theres quite a few pics of PVC shattering under shock loads now and a hybrid mix is fairly well up there with shock loading.

what pressure were your burst discs set to burst at? just curious because a tiny crack plus a burt disk that could hold back too much presure could equal a boom.
in the upcoming presidential election, there will be several candidates who will be running, one of whom is Hillary Clinton. Now WAIT A SECOND!!! I though there was some sort of rule that prevented someone from serving more than two terms in office. Vote Against Hillary: Presidential Elections 08

it seems like everyone's hybrid that is made of pvc either quits working or blows up at one point or another...

maybe people shouldnt make them out of pvc, even if they are sch80.

just a thought

The only PVC hybrid I use is made of a 1.5" coupler and two bushings. The whole thing is at least double layered Sch 40 and Sch 80, and the highest I EVER use it at is a 1.5x fuel mixture.
Apparently you missed my topic on PVC hybrid explosions.

Hey now wait just a second. There are plenty of hybrids made out of PVC that haven't exploded yet. I have one working one and one "in progress", (although I quit building on it when I ran out of money), one in my closet.

And speedycicada, those white PVC fragments look awfully thin.
