Hell no, i would have thought that by drilling a hole in the chamber it would weaken it. It's a case of might work 100 times then blow your sack apart on the 101st firing (i once lit oxy-acet in a coke can, BOOOOM).
Apart from that airifles are simply not designed with this use in mind, the designers would literally spew if they saw that their beauties were being treated in such a fashion!
This guy should just go out and buy a small centre fire rifle (or not, he might try to soup it up Tim Allen style by replacing the powder in the shells to something more manly, like R.D.X. or T.N.T.)

In short, not good practice.

Why would it fire with more power?
Is it because of the density of the gasses?
In that case, why not just use Helium?
Oxygen and Acetylene, I wouldn't.

Edit: Beaten, doubly.

Do you guys think a piston rifle that CAN take such abuse could be made?

It fires with more power because he is compressing the gases to the point at which they ignite, think of a diesel engine, no spark but still ignites the mixture.

Edit: Yes it would be possible to make such a cannon Felex, however it would be heavy and rather ugly if i were to make it
Acetylene is a crap fuel anyway, one would be better served by a high mix Hybrid and propane i think.

Basically yes, a valveless Hybrid using a dirty fuel, with a hole in the chamber- i would like to call it the Holbrid

I've always wanted to build a diesel spring gun. I'm sure I'll never have the engineering ability or tools to do it, though. And it seems like a pretty dangerous undertaking to begin with.

I would say it's not safe, especially with the hole in the chamber. Another reason I wouldn't try to build one of these is that the man in the video didn't seem very smart, he was shooting at his garage door and putting the flame on a welding torch out with his shoe.

You raise a few valid points there. :D
