Yeah you get my vote for a sticky, hopefully it will help out people that are new to Hybrids. Cheers Spudblaster.

All i do is use X amount of fuel (roughly calculated) and then increase or decrease the amount of fuel until i acheive the loudest bang! I am sure your way is a lot more accurate though.
I have never made a fuel meter as i don't see it being worth the trouble if i can get away with using a syringe, it makes a launcher look cleaner without one too. The only advantage for me would be faster reloading times.

What i meant about helping people new to Hybrids was that if stickied they could find the info faster rather than having to look through a pile of threads.

I never realised that people had been incorrectly fueling their Hybrids though, goes to show that we learn something everyday :)

Well thanks DYI for answering my question, and by the way SB15, you still havent answered my other questions pertaining to the pressure that will be produced in the meter for a certain mix. Is it in bars?

And i asked that because i was making a program, as i mentioned in another thread, so that i can easily calculate this in the future, so sorry if i hurt your head by making it slam to hard, i just dont want mistakes and i didnt quite understand completely some of your variable representation. Hope it wasnt something like this.

Hmm.

I just did the formula and found the optimal 6x figure is ~112 psi in my 1.8 ci meter, which is only 4 psi higher than what I've been running it at.

When I finish the second version of my hybrid, I found the optimal 1x mixture by finding the upper and lower explosive limits at 1x, making these into percentages and finding 4.2 base on those numbers(it ended up at 18 psi).
Then I just multiplied by the mix number and went from there.

Unless I did something in the equation wrong.

C volume: (somewhere around) 41 ci
M volume: 1.8 ci

Edit: Freeze frame!! :):)

Gah... when I fired it with my mouth open I felt a concussion wave in my lungs.. weird but pretty cool.

cool i don't get any muzzle flash from my hybrid at 5x (atleast haven't seen one)

Yep, you did something wrong. The whole point of this topic was actually to correct that problem

Anyway, it's good to see that you got a fan installed in it. That's quite an interesting muzzle flash you've got there. I imagine that it would be (relatively) small and blue if the mix was perfect, and I look forward to trying my prototype hybrid at night to find out. :D

Glad to see the first post corrected. Kind of interesting that this thread was first made because SB15 though I was doing my calculations wrong, only to find out that I was actually right all along - 0.644psi/x for propane.

Did I calculated right? My chamber is 0.5l and Im gonna use 4x mix so if I have 1x mix that is same as normal combustion cannon, I need 0.479l air and 0.021l propane, then 4x mix, 0.479x4=1.916 air and 0.021x4=0.084l propane?

4x= 3bar of air pressure and 0.18 bar with propane, run it in google to find PSI
