An 8" long by 4.5" diameter oxygen cylinder tested at 3500psi might make a mean hybrid? There's even a nifty high pressure Schrader valve in it.

This might be fun to build something out of. :)

Awesome, that chamber shape is perfect as well, short and stubby.
Should expect to see interesting results from this.

that is great, I hope you have a fridge compressor. If you can get more, you could possibly have them filled with HPA, and make a sweet bbmg or something.

I am jealous. Can I ask where you got it?

I received it about 15 years ago from a friend that found it in the basement of an old house he had purchased. So I kept it all this time knowing I could use it for something cool some day. :D

Ya, I have an old, out of hydro, CO2 tank, that I was thinking of doing similar things with. The problem is the restriction at the neck. Even with a hybrid, you are probably limited to a 3/4" barrel, which would have to be many many feet long to get any sort of efficiency. I was thinking of using mine on a 2" though, despite the flow restriction, to make some kickass short stubby thing.

flow restriction doesn't affect hybrids as much as you would think. In HGDT, it put a 1.25" burst disk above a 2" disk, for a 3" barrel. I would cut off the current port and have someone weld pipe onto the hole. that way you get threads and a clear, unrestricted port.

It is definitely worth it, and I need to find an old CO2 fire extinguisher.

I guess there is something to be said for the old baffles in tennisball Pringles mortars... Turbulence will help you out if your burst disk busts at too low of a pressure.

yeah, my disk was set at 350 for 11x.

ok, ya, that is a little low... you probably would get not too much loss in power by lowering it to a 4x, and it would be substantially quieter...

it is all about the noise. the earthshattering, bomblike muzzle report is 40% of the fun(the other 60%will involve 500fps cement filled soda bottles and an old truck). besides that would be a 60% cut in ft/lbs.

Now that I have hijacked this thread, I suppose I will hold it ransom for a scuba tank or something.

can you re-hijack something?

if you really want to...

EDIT: you just did, since my reply to your question has nothing to do with an oxygen tank. but seriously, I will hold it this thread till I get a SCUBA tank...

co2 fire extinguishers are made out of aluminum i donut think you would be abull to get a fatter pipe welded on
