The best part is the "it didn't blow up" bit. Question is, to what mix will JSR dare take it? The seal is good to a 12x mix at least.... hmmm...
Also, will he actually make a complete launcher this time

Fair point.
These
improvised submachineguns from Northern Irelandfor example have a certain earthy charm, I'll look around for some rectangular section scrap...

Some progress, the filler rig and small "valveless" cartidge should be ready for testing tomorrow, as well as the breech and barrel setup for the PVC hybrid cartridge. I decided to try my hand at some metalwork, flattened out copper pipe FTW

This is the problem with jack's threads: they go on for pages and pages with nothing but tl;dr and paint diagrams, and then I finally pop in at around page 47 to find him actually building something.
Good job on getting the cartridges to work, jack. I can remember back in the SGTC days watching a short WMV of your combustion cartridge prototype. Glad to see the concept working smoothly.

I actually think so,
this launcher was oddly epiphanic.

Update on these two prototypes:
- PVC cartridge breech: proceeding slowly but surely, this evening I should be able to test it for power and cartridge ejection with a makeshift bolt.
- Fill rig with a 6mm brass cartridge: I tried out the cartridge illustrated below, with mixed results. In terms of getting a hybrid mix sealed in the cartridge it worked brilliantly, however the seal will only reliably hold a BB for a 5x mix, and igniting this is not enough to pop it out. In any case, the short (2.5mm) external distance between the electrode and cartridge body means that for higher mixes the spark will arc externally anyway.

how high of a mix do you plan to take the PVC cartridges? I may have to try this over break..
may just pick up some aluminum tubing as well.

Not more than 8-9x, I don't want to push it too far.
Here's progress so far:
