Looks awsome, and powerful. Can't wait to see the results. :)

JSR, do you ever get concerned with using an epoxy endplug at 16x?

JSR knows no fear, and can contain the detonation of 10kg HMX with 50mL of epoxy.

I've been involved in this hobby enough to never declare that sort of certainty ;)

After my first mini failed at a relatively low mix I thought right, you've been lucky with pneumatics but now you're reached the limit of the material. However, when it became apparent that the failure was due to the thin-walled chamber material expanding and I moved to a more resistant material I haven't looked back. I've fired the mini over a hundred times at 16x since I built it and there isn't a hint of a crack or leak. The important thing is to know your limits and not become too overconfident (as I have been many a time, do as I say, not as I do ;))

JSR should know better

I decided to risk a 3x test before going off to work, very promising, no one woke up and it sounded like small book being dropped and I'm quite sure most of it was projectile impact. More extensive testing in a few hours.

Awesome!! Looking forward to more results...

I was looking through my scrap box and found the now defunct 12 bore coaxial pneumatic, seemed a shame not to use the barrel/suppressor combination so I grafted it to a hybrid chamber et voila, here it is at 12x firing at a soup tin:

It's definitely not as loud as before, audible but there's no ear-splitting muzzle crack. Looks good too, almost tempted to make a pistol grip and give it a lick of paint...

Well that is a huge friggin' suppressor..... now turn one of these awesome creations into a gun and not a test bed! Can't wait to see what sort of shapes you'll make with epoxy....

Some shots from the side at 10x with the above project filmed at 1000 frames per second, through a soup tin and acrylic box respectively.

I've taken advantage of my new ignition source to take the micro hybrid to the limit with unpressurised fuel, around 28x which basically means flooding the chamber with propane/butane, sealing it and pressurising it to 400 psi.

Performance is not exactly incredible, you can see that both lead and steel 0.177" BBs failed to penetrate the steel sheet, but it is a fairly tough target - my HW97K firing the same lead projectile at 855 feet per second (13 ft/lbs) won't penetrate the sheet at close range either - and the specifications of the launcher itself are also very diminutive, 8 inch barrel length and a chamber volume of just 3.9mL making it one of the smallest hybrids on this forum.

Still, 28x works! Thanks again to everyone who helped me put together the flyback ignitor :)

Indeed, not bad for a 4 cc chamber. Perhaps try it with a longer barrel?

Also, as you linked to several pages back - language identification fail:

That's Chinese.

Well, not impressive....

I think it's pretty cool for something with 8 inches of barrel..

Make a pistol !!!! as far as I know, you haven't got very much guns you can fire like a standard gun.

True, edited accordingly - but as I said, I only look at the pictures :)

Well, the only launcher I've ever actually "finished" is this one. My vortex block BBMG *almost* got there

As expressed earlier in this thread I really want to make a suppressed 0.22" pistol, with proper ignition I'm approaching the sort of power levels which would make it worth finishing so watch this space ;)

It would be cool to make a long barrelled "AMR" type high mix launcher, but with maximum garden range of 20 metres, hardly worth it.

Still waiting for someone in the American mid-west to adopt me

That's a very nice gun!
Wasn't that the one where the piston hit you in the chest? :D

a .22 pistol would be very cool. Especially when you don't have to buy cartridges !

Maybe whe should think of a sort of shock pump, wich automatically meters the fuel with each pump. That way you could go to every mix you would like, without metering with a syringe or something like that.

I think any kind of on-board fuelling system would be far too bulky for a pistol sized launcher, though I can picture a rifle type piston hybrid with a butane lighter for fuel injection and attached shock pump for pressurisation.

For a clean and compact launcher though, I still think cartridges are the way to go.
