Look into Lexan. Clear PVC is a bad idea. It could probably take a 2x mix (from what I've read here, I'm no expert) but it's a bad idea, eventually it would break, and PVC shrapnel at 200 mph isn't very fun.

Polycarbonate or "Lexan" isn’t used for pressure applications to my knowledge.

the 2 inch clear sch 80 is rated to 320 psi. this also has a huge saftey margin it is the same pressure as 4" sch 80. Also the pipe is not rated for the heat which will decreace the alredy low raating.
just dont do it.
just dont do it.
Regular 2" Sch 80 = 400 Water Psi maxdan116 wrote:just wondering, I want to make a mini hybrid using 2" schedule 80 clear pvc, it has a max psi rating of 200psi. Is it safe enough for a 2x mix maybe even a 3x?
Regular 2" Sch 40 = 280 Water Psi max
You're asking to use 200 psi pipe which is even less than what 2" Sch 40 can withstand....
This won't even be safe with a 1x mix really... which is just propane right?
Just don't do it, you'll give all Spuders a bad name if\when you hurt yourself.

hey, i got a good idea......make the gun, then remote fire it from 50 feet back!!!!! just stick with a 2x mix, and youll be good
in the upcoming presidential election, there will be several candidates who will be running, one of whom is Hillary Clinton. Now WAIT A SECOND!!! I though there was some sort of rule that prevented someone from serving more than two terms in office. Vote Against Hillary: Presidential Elections 08

I've seen people on spudfiles that use schedule 40 pvc at a 1x mix, which at 4\" as a rating of about 150psi[/quote]

Just use it for a normal gun, or maybe a 1.5X mix.

I'm starting to think the sch system is inferior to the sdr system, if only because people have silly misconceptions with the sch system...
4\" sch 80 is rated to 320 psi. People have used 4x mixes, generating an estimated 245 (measured at 270) psi, in it without much trouble other than the odd exploding union, which doesn't count anyways.
2\" clear sch 80 is rated to 200 psi.
Using the same pressure:rating ratio, it should be safe for 170psi, or nearly a estimated 3x mix. Obviously, my estimates are slightly off, so play it safe and only use a 2.5x mix.
Sure, these guys may question your sanity, but it's probably quite safe.
Just remember to use a multi-point ignition system to help prevent the flamefront from transitioning to detonation, as it does that more redily in small diameter tubes.

50 feet? He will still has a chance to get badly injured at that range... if the pvc has enough force behind it to shatter like a grenade, i dont think 50 feet is saving you from getting shreded by shrapnel.beebs111 wrote:hey, i got a good idea......make the gun, then remote fire it from 50 feet back!!!!! just stick with a 2x mix, and youll be good
