The centre hole is 3.5mm, that's the closest drill size I had. I would put epoxy in just to make sure. If the "stripes" don't go in easily be careful while forcing it through so you don't distort the fins.

No problem! nails are 3.5mm with stripes!

I'll be careful, I am gentle with fins!

Be careful... This is the result I had shooting hardened 6,35mm steel plate:

The ricochet shattered my workshop light fitting

oh yeah, big impact!

I know that the risk of ricochet with steel against steel is very important, I'll be careful, plus I have a remote control functioning up to 1km!
front of steel target I'll put a thickness of 10mm wood
Thank you for your advice

Yep... the point of the nail shattered completely, and the rest of the body bent. These nails are extremely hard, so that's a lot of energy!

This is a very good idea, it helps to stabilise the projectile while penetrating too.

Anyway, just came back from the post office, hopefully you should get your sabots in a week or so :)

If the Police ever have me arrested for my hybrid, I think the remote wireless capability of the cannon will ruin me in the media; they will assume that because it can be remotely fired that I would want to commit a crime with it while not being near the scene of the crime.

What are the laws about hybrid cannons in France?

Thank you again Jacks!
I can not wait!
2 weeks leave me the time to set the ThorJack

The remote is only for testing, for safety.
I shoot in a single fields.
In France the PAC, PAL and hybrids are not prohibited, they are tolerated.
Against it is forbidden to show complete plans for manufactures spudgun

great movie! :D

I'm pretty sure that refers to potato canons, I can't see things going well if one gets caught with a 40x hybrid with a rifled barrel.

Last year a kid was arrested, questioned and accused of being a terrorist because someone complained to the police and showed them a youtube video of him shooting a potato out of a basic plastic combustion spudgun.
Of course in the end there were no charges, but it was all over the news, something you'd want to avoid...

Manufacture of weapons is prohibited, and spudguns (especially ones that don't shoot spuds) are regarded as falling under the category of weapons you'd need to have a licence for (that is if they weren't illegally built and they'd have to be tested at the St-Etienne National Test Facility).
