Marbles come in many different sizes, just saying "a regular marble" isn't much use.

Still, very impressive performance there.

Well, it's probably something like 5/8ths, 11/16ths or 3/4" then. Those are the sort of sizes I can lay my hands on that fit 22mm copper with wadding without being too small, but the first two are easier to come by.

Oooh, 555 posts, fun.

if you measured one you could see how much power you were getting 8) and then brag about it 8)

edit: but 568 posts is where its at 8)

A 11/16" marble will be about 7 grams, which gives you ~500 J (~370 ft-lbs) of muzzle energy, which is one hell of a lot of energy from such a small bore. But at 5x, not entirely surprising.

nice, but what's the point if the barrel is a quarter inch from the target, like in the videos and pictures. If you want to prove something, do it from 25-50 feet away. I try to shoot all my vids /w/ the target about a hundred feet from the barrel. makes for a better picture or video.

judging by the fact that's its a hybrid, It should have the power to shoot something 50-100 feet away.

(sorry if I sound like an ass, it's late, and I may end up erasing this/changing what I wrote, when I wake up in the morning) I just wondered what's up with the shooting distance, since its from here -> ------------------------ <- to here.

^ thats mainly due to 3 things,

1. i have a realy small garden
2. if i miss i risk shooting a supuersonic marble at a brick wall and that could rebound badly/damage the wall
3.its damn hard to aim

when i get access to some land i will be shooting from over 100ft....

You have a lot more power on tap than I have (For one thing I'm using pneumatics, and I can't go supersonic... yet.), and the marbles I fire still smash themselves to pieces on solid backstops even after ploughing through a foot of water.
They'll do damage to the wall of course, but they won't be coming back at you.

8x should have interesting performance, but take care with that. It's more than I'd want to be messing with for a while... But I'd be more than happy with 30 bar of hydrogen or helium. The hydrogen would give me a considerable muzzle energy of 500 ft-lbs with a 7g marble.

why didn't you make it handheld, it would be so much more satisfying... although when you are firing at 8* mixes i wouldn't like it anywhere near me! and i suppose it would not give many advantages in your small garden and as you have such a long barrel.
