Vortex Cap

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to actually make a vortex cap? It looks to me to be just what it says a cap. But yet that seems to simple.

I am trying to decide which to use inline vortex or vortex cap. The cap seems the way to go with loading and all but need a little more info on it.

I have been searching the web like crazy lately trying to get all my info together to build a couple of guns. Then I found this site and well it seems to have all the info in one spot.

hey,

my vortex cap is simply a cap with an air inlet and and a barrel.. Its works on the same principle in which their is cylinder shape that redirects the air in a vortex manner. Reason why my vortex cap design is nice is because since the chamber is the vortex itself it allows it to be built into smaller designs. It also allows easy to use magazines that simply go partially into the cap.

I pm'd this to you already but I keep getting a lot of PM's asking me the same questions. So im gonna post this:





You drill two holes into the cap.. one for the air inlet and one for the barrel as shown above.

You then epoxy the barrel into place or hopup first.. either way thats where the barrel/hopup placement will be.

make sure when placing the barrel into the cap to grind a curve shape into it so it matches the inside circular shape of the vortex cap as shown in the pic above. you can do the same with the air inlet but its not as important.

This design will work with a gravity feed magazine. but its really simple to make spring/plunger fed magazines as well.

Here are a couple of different style of magazines for a vortex cap.



Now B-Mag Style has issues with strong springs so make sure to either have a angled shroud or a weaker spring.

about how my design was more than a little wasteful, I decided to make a D-mag style. It seems a little more compact than the others. It's an amazing design. I just hope mine performs as nicely as the original.
I still like my design and plan on building it sometime, but I want to try a cap first.

I was thinking about a larger mag (larger diameter PVC) and use couplings to narrow the diameter down to 3/4" where the cap is, with a relatively strong spring/plunger. Will this adversely affect the D-mag style? Personally, I think 240 isn't enough when you can empty it in less than 3 seconds. (BTW, what pressure (psi) do you use? )

I am also in the process of designing an inline vortex. (Is there a specific name for the style where the plunger pushes the bbs towards the vortex block in the rear of the BBMG?) My advice would be to try a few designs and find what works the best for you.

if a plunger pushes back into the vortex block which is located in the rear of the gun and the plunger pushes a long the barrel then its a coaxial bullpup.

As far as putting a coupling before the cap so you can use a larger magazine that is perfectly fine..

Thanks, that's exactly the info I was looking for. I just found out we have an entire week off for thanksgiving, so I should be able to start my BBMG (whether it be vortex cap or block) before the end of the semester
