arrow shaft sizes work like this: the first two digits are the outer diameter in 64ths of an inch. so 1714 is 17/64 inches. the second two digits is the wall thickness in 1000th's of an inch, so 1714 is 17/64 inches, with a wall thickness of 14/1000 inches. to get inner diameter we minus two times the wall thickness from the outer diameter. If you covert to cm it comes to 6.035 mm.

Hmm truth be told, I can't buy stuff online yet because I'm 17. Hence I'm trying to find an alternative still to find a 6mm ID Barrel.

o.O That arrow shaft however is abit expensive o.O $119.50 for one shaft? maybe I'm reading it wrong :S.

No it's fine, I'll feel bad, I don't have any means of paying you back :(.

$10 a shaft is actually pretty cheap.

I'll continue my research. Apparently 9/32" Brakeline fits 6mm BBs perfectly and there's a brakeline store near my house so I'm going to check it out.

Btw are you going beads or actual BBs from that camping store? (sorry off-topic).

no probs.

Yeah Im gonna start with the camping store bb's and then try import some proper 0.25g ones. Trust me, you will be pretty disappointed with the accuracy you get from beads, which I tried once.

9/32 probably would do you pretty well, the bundy tube has a 0.5mm wall thickness which gives you an internal diameter of about 6.15mm.

With your barrel size, it really wont be affecting your power too much as long as you dont go above 6.15, so I think you're on the border here. Tightbore barrels are really for accuracy, however, and you will find that the combination of beads and a fairly loose barrel will most likely yield pretty average results. You'll be doin better than me though probably cos I havent even made one yet.

Beads can be pretty accurate actually. I've gotten them to go straight for 25metres... beads are only bad if you don't have any hop-up.

Also depends on the design of your guns...

.12g should be good enough because the only real problem with beads is that they have extra blowby because of the hole in the bead. Hopefully I can find a definite source for a barrel though, I'll report any thing I find. Btw I'm a Brisbane... you?

6.5mm is way too much blowby, you'll lose substantial amount of power. Although I guess it would be good enough for a BBMG, just make sure you have hop-up and you'll get power and accuracy.

By the way. it's stainless steel not steal
<,< Sorry but it just seemed like such a simple mistake lol.

The distance my planned gun would shoot with .12g would be 110 meters or thereabouts, and it wont be accurate to that far. Also its a single shot sniper so it needs to be really accurate.

110metres with a .12g BB... your probably right, you're going to need something heavier. Remember that Hop-Up has to come into play for this gun because it puts a spin on the BB. So you can lessen the air-resistance. There alot of guides on how to do that.

And anyway on my journey of finding the right barrel size... Like someone said previously on this topic weed sprayer nozzles are pretty good. I went to go find some at Mitre 10 and I found one but it was 6.5-6.8mm'ish which is pretty darn close which I brought a bead to check. Means that at bunnings you should be able to find a very tight fit. They cost about $5-$10 I assume at bunnings. But the one I saw was $15 which was abit over priced.

Do they allow Red Ryder BB guns there? Maybe you could buy a cheap BB gun and use the barrel. Or are BB guns BANNED there? If you wanted a Red Ryder carbine action range model air rifle, would you need a firearms certificate?

You would need a class A firearm licence, putting it in the same category as a .22 rifle or 12 gauge shotgun.

Yes, they are BANNED. Unless you have a Cat A or H (I can't remember) Gun License but then you need to prove too much crap, it's too much effort.

Hence the massive effort in trying to find tight barrels :(.
