Well guys,
I am inspired to make a minigun of some sort..
But, what is the best way to make a bbmg achieve an extra high ROF?
Should I do a multi-barreled cloud?
A high PSI inline vortex?
A high PSI cloud?
or what other ways can I make an insane gun?

I will be using reged co2. I would like to stay around 150 psi... Maybe up to 180, but I'd need schedule 80 pvc I think...

Make a cloud with a short fat chamber such as 3inches of 1.5" pvc. Use 5/16 brakeline for the barrel. Blow gun for valve.

The best method I could think of would be to make a high psi vortex or cloud. The higher psi may push the bbs out faster.

Forget about a multi barreled cloud. It will not work.

Maybe, since you're on the topic of insanity( ) make a vortex or cloud that fires from three or four barrels at the same time. Kind of like four different guns set on the same air source so that they all shoot simultaneously.

As far as CO2 goes with a vortex / cloud, good luck with that. You are not going to get very many shots with it, unless you're using a bulk tank.

Also, at those pressures, Sch 80 is recommended over Sch 40, just to be safe.

Anyway, good luck with your project.

This is bullshit, I have a couple.
One .177 one 6mm.
Using a 1/4" ball valve for a trigger makes it very easy to find your sweet spot where the ROF and Velocity is at it's best. Once you find that point, solder on a stop so you can easily open the valve right to that point.

A bulk tank will be required, and likely a high flow regulator, or at least a sub tank if you plan to fire in bursts. These guns will murder a 5hp compressor with a 20 gallon tank.

1.5" Sch 40 PW will handle a 180psi input with no problem at all, as long as CO2 isn't cooling it too drastically.

Yeah as BC said why wouldn't a multi barrel cloud work?

Okay, I'm sorry. I guess I was not understood. It was more along the lines of not being predictable, but, now that I think about it, does that really matter?

Not predictable? I'm not sure what you mean by this at all.

They function and act just like a normal cloud, there is just a higher rate of fire. Velocity didn't drop, but air consumption is higher.

you could as you surgested earlyer build a multi vortex with 2 or 3 chambers, could be a bit ammo comsuming tho

Most BBMGs already fire about as fast as a minigun. So you want to build something that fires several times faster than a minigun?

Why?

Dropping the ROF and boosting the muzzle velocity is going to be a heck of a lot more efficient at increasing the power of the gun than is simply boosting the ROF.

A typical BBMG only fires at 300~350 FPS (120 PSIG cloud with a 3' barrel). To boost the power, figure out a way to double the muzzle velocity. Half as many BBs/second, each moving twice as fast, will have twice the kinetic energy of a standard BBMG.

you should definitly run off regulated co2 or hpa and a multi-barrel cloud in the shape of a minigun would definitly be awesome, although you would need a higher flow than a blowgun so a ball valve would be good like BC pnuematics recommended, you would also need a ton of bbs a and fat chamber.

I've been trying to promote this concept since spudtech. High rates of fire are cool until you have to pick up the BBs :?

The simple solution is much higher pressure and shorter bursts. That and valves with a much higher flow rate than what can escape through a 0.177 barrel.

yes i agree with JMR about the picking up of bbs. make semiauto and you will have more power and spend less time with a brush and shovel :D

What pressures can commercial valves go to?
This would be the only limiting factor, no?
