My friend thinks that potato guns are a waste of time. I really want to prove him wrong and since he is really into airsoft right now I am thinking about making a airsoft gun. I can,t decide between a single shot sniper or a machine gun. I don't have a lathe so I think it would be hard to make a vortex block. How accurate would a three feet long airsoft gun be? and would it be easy to make it semi auto? I want it to be able to hit about a one foot area about 30 yards away.

sorry for the noobish questions but the smallest type of ammo I have worked with so far are marbles.

I'd go for a vortex, my friends aren't as impressed with one shot guns.

You could make a one shot semi auto as long as you have a constant pressure source like CO2 and a hopper/mag.

You can make a vortex block with bondo and a drill. It's not that hard to make a basic one. You could even put a plunger on it and have it inline.

yea, nobody is impressed with something you have to manually load and reset every shot with. i would go with a vortex too. you dont need a lathe to make a vortex block. in fact i dont think you could use a lathe even if you wanted to... they are cheap to make, it just take a little effort.

My friends first saw my vortex bloc strafer just before an airsoft game.
I walked out, said ok this is my new gun and shot at a cardboard box.
My friend was sitting on the floor facing the otherway, he jumped and scrambled to his feet with a "what the f..."
Worked well as far as impressing ans suprising are concerned :)

If you really don't want to make a vortex block you could make a cloud.

Ask your friend to do a google search to find how many people have been seriously hurt (or killed) by the projectile launched from a spudgun.

Then have'm do the same search with Airsoft guns.
:D

Airsoft are toys. Of course, so are spudguns but a spudgun can seriously mangle a person. The only way to do significant damage to a person with an airsoft weapon would be to use it as a club.

higher end airsoft guns are easily capable of reaching 500 to 600 fps or more, even plastic bb's at those velocitys are capable of doing damage
