Making a springer :D

Yeah, that's right, a springer!
Now I've heard things like;
"Don't do it, it almost cut my finger clean off."
or
"Those things are as strong as a cat sneeze" (No offence to both)
but I'm really willing to build one, difficult or not, strong or not.

Now my questions are:
-What kind of FPS would I be getting? (assuming I'm using an old airsoft spring+ perhaps some rubber bands)
-Is good sealing important?
-Does the bb need to have a tight fit at the beginning of the barrel? (like for example; rubber layer on inside of the beginning of the barrel where the bb sits to be fired)

and some tips would be awesome.
Thank you for any kind of comment posted :D

I have done this before
The fps youll get is a little lower than that of the airsoft gun you stole the spring from.
Good sealing is very important(lots of o-rings)
the bb does not need to have a tight fit but I guess it would help velocity and so the bb doesnt fall out of the barrel.

I doubt that, it's barrel ID was like 6.5~7 mm, 1.5 inch long and had about 100 FPS xD
So if I take a 6 MM 3 FOOT barrel, it would most likely become waaaay stronger

What I meant by that is that it will be lower on a fixed barrel length and because you wont be able to recreate the perfect seal in high quality airsoft guns. But the airsoft gun you stole the spring from is probably a low quality one so you might maybe if your lucky get to 150fps with a 3ft barrel. In other words it is not worth it to make if you will get such low velocity.Get a stronger spring like the ones made to upgrade aeg's such as is found here http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=1653 I know it is out of stock but thats just an example.

Edit:for some reason the link doesnt work

EditEdit:fixed it

The seal is everything. make sure you lube it a lot. For more info on spring power I would read up on Nefhaven.

Very true. Nerfhaven.com is ALL about spring powered guns. I wouldn't say that they're that great-from what i've seen-, they shoot nerf foam darts  .

Yeah..

Good luck . Be sure to post :D

Yeah there are alot of dumbasses there with ball valve guns and chambers that are huge, check out this dumbass.

LOL :D Somebody from spudfiles should seriously go there and tell them about pistons and C:B ratios
That's just epic fail in my opinion

Wow....wow. Wow. WOW...wow.

I'd laugh if the piping was DWV...watch him blow his head off on his next vid haha

Yeah, would go like: "Okay guys I'm gonna do something insane! I'm going to do 100 pumps into my 5 gallon chamber and fire a piece of foam in less than a second to that target 10 feet away! *does the dance*
Okay...96...97...98...99..."
*BoOm*

what a waste 16 pumps for a lousy muzzle loaded Nerf dart there's no point when you could buy one with multiple shots. All for a crap Nerf dart just as easily you can make a sweet marble rifle,

did you ever see how they use sprinkler valves opened with the manual bleed http://nerfhaven.com/homemade/cxwq_bamf/ what a waste of a sprinkler valve

anyways I think seal shouldn't matter that much, more seal mean more friction, there should be a rubber seal just not a supper tight one

Im very tempted to log on to nerf haven right now and post a thread teaching all the stupid 10year olds over there how its done. That vid was great my throut almost exploded laughing(have a cold very sore throat)especially at his little dance.I bet the CB ratio on that thing is like 100:1.
Ill go make a little 1in pipe chamber gun that will probably outperform his gun with some spare parts when I get over this cold.Ill post it over there and spread the teachings of pressure rated parts and C:B ratios and not using freaking 1/2in valve on a 4in chamber like on the vid.Id bet they dont even know what a sprinkler or piston valve is.

And the better the seal the higher the velocity to a certain extent that is.

Yeah back to what pizlo said. Just use alot of lubericant and it should be fine. Still weak as hell though.
