1/4 flare

On the bottom end of a blowgun valve (small end) there seems to be a strange sized thread. I went to the local Ace Hardware (always very helpful) and he described it as a 1/4 inch flare (I have also heard it called 1/4 inch compressed, but this was unconfirmed on the internet). Does anyone know where to get adapters for this size thread?

Pretty sure its 1/8" NPT...that is the common size on most blowguns of that shape. They have a 1/4" NPT inlet and a 1/8" NPT outlet, once you remove that little metal fitting.

If it is a flare size, then flared fittings can usually be found near other brass fittings. They are used for flared copper pipe. These fittings usually have a dome type end to them.

But, I would try the 1/8" NPT first. As Velocity said, everyone I've used is 1/8" NPT on that end.

Just to satisfy my curiousity, why do you want a fitting on the outlet of your blowgun?

rp, only if he intends to hook it up backwards. :?

Placing a fitting in the outlet will restrict flow. Not a good thing for a pilot valve.

Of course, he never did mention what he was doing with it did he? :)

I'm attaching it to an inline vortex and another piston gun I designed. I needed this size fitting so that I could unscrew it and attach to the other easily and quickly.
