Hey guys,

I can't sure if I've brought up this subject or someone else did but as you may know, some Aussies used beads as their ammo for the BBMG's they make.

Comparison costs from bead and bb
Craft Beads (300) - $1, 0.10g
BB's (300) - $15.95, 0.12g

Thats the cost of getting bbs in Australia and beads are much cheaper. Although the disadvantage of using these beads are that they are too light weighted and will not propel very far. So anyway I'll get to the point, anyone have any ideas to fill up the holes in the beads quickly. What I was thinking was to put them in some sort of mixture and pour ito ut after the holes were filled by the mixture.

something as simple as pollyfilla will do. That or find a wire gauge that fits exactly in the hole and trim lengths to fit and just jam them in place, this would be the easiest solution to increase sectional density.

Holy sheeettt,

Trimming it down from wire would take for ever unless you had some sort machine which I don't. And what's polyfilla?

Polyfilla is a crack filler. Used for patching walls.

Odd, I didn't think they sold it in "Insert wherever you think Jack's place of residence is here".

Er... you don't have a pair of pliers?

Perhaps you didn't quite understand, how wide are the holes in your beads? What I suggested was find some sort of wire that has the same diameter, mark out 6mm lengths of it (or 5mm to be safe), cut them out with pliers then hammer them into the beads, easy.

Not if you do it in an industrial manner, surely. How long would it take you to mark out say 100 5mm lengths (that's only 50cm of wire), cutting them all out and hammering them in? Besides, this would count as reusable ammo so you're going to get more than one shot per bead.

Any solution you find is going to be a little time consuming as it has to be applied to each bead, so why not go with the one that will give you the denser and harder projectile.

That's true,

Although I'm going to make this in a vortex gun so all my ammo will go bye bye. Should of said earlier, because that was the reason I was finding another different and quicker way to do it.

I was kinda going to use it so I can skirmish with my friends too and wanted more weight behind each shot.

Every .01g counts, I was thinking of pouring the beads into a mixture of gluey flour (like the way you make pinyatas) to fill abit of the hole up.

Wouldn't that coat the outside in a layer of glue and leave you with a mess of sticky beads that don't fit the barrel?

Good point but if 6mm beads go up to 6.5mm beads, bic pen tubes are about 6.7mm it would be a nice tight fit, but if I end up using brakeline it's a different story,

Thats the good thing with flour though, it's not that stuck when it dries. although the imperfections of a "round" bead would detrimentally (is that a word, i must of spelt it wrong) screw up the accuracy of the bead.

That or since the vortex has such a high rate of fire I might just use the wired beads in like the spring pistols / sniper rifles I make I guess. I haven't made either though :(.

Ya kno, you can make effective blowgun darts by getting a bead and sticking a hot wire through where the string is, leaving a little "fluff" on the back end. Very Accurate.....

Hey VH_man you've just gave me an idea for my airsoft sniper rifle ammo. Imagine the distance and power developed from that lol. especially since beads have "holes" in them just for that. Thanks man :).

Although now I'm still figuring out how to fill the beads up quickly so I can use it in my BBMG to get that extra distance and power.

Err Where abouts from Australia are you from? Because I get my beads at Crazy Clarks for $1 for 300... although it might be different from where you live... but recently they've stop sellling the brand of beads I want cause they don't sell round beads anymore but they sell like faceted for like 150 for $2.50... I'm not sure but I cant tell you that the brand I bought was called "Bubble Beads".

Australia should sell beads more consistantly in my opinion. That or your other option is to buy Beados... you can get a 5000pack for 50 bucks... although I'm not sure if that's all worth it, I think it might cost about more.
