Thats right, ti seems that carbon fiber arrows found at any walmart store makes a perfectly straight, strong, lightweight barrel. And the cheap nes are only around 3-4$

enjoy

Sweet! Nice find. Is it hard to remove the point an the feathers sor wtvr from the arrow?

I would suppose you could cut it off right before the feathers and still have adequate barrel length. Besides too long of a barrel and you start getting friction and all sorts of other problems that actually reduce velocity.

So you could still get a good 14" barrel I would assume..

The arrow i have is a beman ics hunter 400

and it says 8.4 gpi (grains per inch)

all of this is useless info, don't really know on actual diameter

good but old news.

my problem with this is that now that i need one all the walmarts in my area (close and far) stop selling the arrows. they also cut back on almost all the airsoft stuff. one of the employees told me that all of the bb and airsoft stuff will be discontinued in a few months.

for all ur sake i hope it's just my area (north dallas).

It's just the opposite here in PA. The local walmarts have gone from just the crappy springers to selling better and better models. Gander Mountain also sells a nice low level AEG for about $100 from what I hear.

Check the sports stores like dicks if you can't find it at Walmart. I'm sure they'll always sell stuff like arrow shafts. It might be a little more expensive, but it's better than using bic pens. (no offense to the people that do)

It seems like carbon fiber would make an excellent barrel material, due to its durability and self-lubrication. Great find!

I have a DIGITAL caliper (lucky me, it's actually MINE! Not my Dad's!) and this thread is music to my ears. The thought had crossed my mind that R/C aircraft carbon tubes might make good barrels, but their I.D. is just tiny. Next time I got to Wal-Mart (which has jack-scrap in the way of quality airsoft) I'll pick up a few arrows and check out their diameters and see what kind of quality control they got on them. If they fit tight enough, the arrows may make a good alternative to brass or copper for making shells.

At some hobby shops, you can get larger diameters of carbon fiber. Do you go to Hobby People?

Just don't try to use the aluminium shafts for combustions, the aluminium sucks all of the heat from the ignition thus making the shots extremely slooww.

Interesting. I never thought of that! I usually use brass, though.
